The Straw: Reservation at Fairfield Inn & Suites Virginia Beach Town Center, Starts:04/21/23, Ends:04/23/23 20 Constitution Drive Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA
New property near the Virginia Beach town Center, not in the Virginia Beach Town Center like the name implies.
The property was clean.(Win) They upgraded us to a junior king suite because of our status.(Pro)
Build quality like a poorly built apartment building The building was nice looking but that was because it was new.(Pro) Walls thin, not exactly paper thin, but thin. (Con) Ceiling floor paper thin you can hear every step that the people above you are taking. (Con) The heating and Air unit sounded like a jet taking off coming on and going off all night long (Con)
We were given no water bottles There were no toiletries (NO lotion, no shower cap nothing, except hand soap)
Marriott's properties are mainly franchises and they all have different rules…
Issue: We needed to reduce the amount of time that we were here for this trip and they would not allow us to reduce the number of days at check-in, said that we would still have to pay for the full stay whether we were here or not. (Con/Fail)
Each Property can have its own rules so there is no consistency between the Marriott properties.
I had about 10 days of different trips planned and I canceled all of them that were booked at Marriott properties and rebooked them with other hotel changes.
People choose hotel chains for consistency, your customers, or EX-Customers want or wanted consistency in:
Rules of engagement with customers Build Quality Customer Service Cleanliness Safe Location Safe Parking Amenities
When I asked to shorten my trip the front desk staff said that I could not. This one act along with another time when I was traveling and would not be able to drive far enough to make it to Memphis TN and the amount of work that we had to do to get Big Marriott to convivence the Memphis hotel to not charge us so that we could stay at another Marriott property that I could get to has lost my business for ever and I am an executive at one of the top Software companies on the planet, and I have teams of people reporting to me I will tell all of them to steer clear of Marriott because of these things.
The good Marriott hotels "The Raphael in Kansas City, the Clio in Denver, the JW Marriott in Charlotte, and lots others etc…" need to help Marriot understand this issue. Because Marriott does not appear to have standard rules of how they are going to treat and engage their customers, when it comes to customers needed to make changes to their...

After several seconds of waiting, I stated that I wanted to check in and gave my last name. I was asked for ID and payment card. I provided, asked for the appx total and was told they could not give to me until after payment. I asked if both reservations were located, she stated yes. I paid and still no total cost given. I had to check my accounts to confirm. The details of hours and operations of amenities was briefed very swiftly and no eye contact was given. She was on her phone, using am ear piece the entire time. I simply walked away.||||Later, I purchased food from snack area. After payment, asked for comp water that was being given out to other guests, and was told I would have to purchase. I simply walked away, as she was not pleasant.||||At approximately 9:40pm, I was outside of the hotel after I had checked in, on the property and was approached by a male that told me I needed to leave the premise. I asked who he was a why? He said I needed to leave, they saw me on camera. I said, doing what? He asked if I was staying at the hotel. I said yes, and he said where. I asked him who he was, as I feared what was going on at the moment. He explained he was maintenance. I showed him my key card, he said ok, I thought you were a squatter and left me alone to go look for the person. He apologized.||||I went towards the front lobby, he came up to me again and apologized and said there was a lady in 216 that had been staying for free. Walked into a room, where the door had been left cracked open and was staying there, eating and had made the room messy during the time she was there. The room was a few doors from my reserved room. The squatter, then was seen walking away in the parking garage and the front desk staff came out to confirm that was her and she was thinking about calling the police, as this had happened again last week.||||Again, very dismissive, did not ask about my well being.||||I was profiled and very dissapointed in the events that happened. I did not sleep that night, and had disruptive sleep the 2nd night.
