We recently took a girl's trip to Waco and stayed at Green Door Lofts for three nights. The lofts far exceeded our expectations. If you are looking to stay in the heart of Waco, I cannot imagine a better place to stay. We walked outside through the gorgeous green door and was right on Austin Street. We walked everywhere! We could walk to the Magnolia Silos, the Dr. Pepper Museum, a good selection of restaurants, and a wine tasting room across the street. Everything a visitor would need is easily attainable. And the shopping!
The bedrooms were excellent. Very cozy. The beds were comfortable, the sheets were soft, and each room even had its own fan! There was plenty of bathroom space for all 7 of the ladies in my party. And absolutely spotless! One thing to bear in mind is that with an urban environment comes the sounds of urban life. The bar across the street was a happening place and loud music could be heard while sitting in the living room, but it wasn't unbearable. We could hear nothing from the bedrooms and had no problems sleeping.
There was initial concern on navigating the spiral staircase where all but one bedroom was located, but we got it done even with all of the luggage that five ladies carry. The one bedroom on the first floor had a king-sized bed. The lower-level bathroom was fabulous! TWO water closets and a gorgeous separate shower.
The kitchen was fully stocked with everything one would need to prepare and serve a meal. But why cook when there is so many great places to eat! The most important need was provided and that was coffee! And tea for the tea drinkers. Jim provided half n half in the fridge and all the sweeteners on a tray. But if you like a cup of decaf at night you will need to be sure to take your own.
The private garage was a great and rare addition. We felt completely safe entering and exiting. We never saw anyone lurking around in back. The patio on the mezzanine level was a wonderful bonus to be enjoyed by all. And don't forget to take your swimsuits. The pool was heated to a nice, comfortable temperature for November.
Jim, the owner, was fantastic! He was very responsive to our questions and even offered us the use of his bicycles. He even offered to change the bottled water in the cooler for us, if needed.
I have stayed at several Airbnb or VRBOs over the years, and Green Door Lofts is the only facility that I have zero suggestions or complaints for. I cannot wait to stay here again! Thank you, Jim, for being such a...
Read moreWOW!!! Everything was just "WOW!" My family and I have stayed in many vacation rentals all over the US over the past decade and this has been the BEST experience we have had by far! First, as soon as we walked into our loft, we were immediately impressed. It was like a breath of fresh air to walk into a unit that is very, very, VERY CLEAN and smelling fresh! We were provided with a binder of all things Waco and a delicious homemade coffeecake made by the owner's mom. The set up and layout of the loft felt open and airy, light and bright, spacious and comfortable. The decor, furnishings, mattresses, pillows, linens, towels, appliances, kitchenware, etc, were all of high quality and top notch, everything felt high end. It was absolutely beautiful and clean! The unit was fully-equipped and fully-stocked with all essentials we could possibly need for our stay, from toiletries, to coffee & cream, to umbrellas for our rainy weekend, the loft was stocked with everything we needed. Amenities also included garage parking, a dipping pool, and multiple picturesque sitting areas. The location of the Green Door Lofts can't be beat – it was central to everything and was within minutes of wherever you'd want to go in Waco – Magnolia Market, Silos, Baylor University, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Finally, the owner was the most gracious host we have ever met. He went over and above to make us feel welcomed and at home. He was always available, communicative, and responsive. From check-in to check-out, everything was simple and carefree. Staying at the Green Door Lofts was truly a delightful experience that was worth every penny. We would definitely stay here again and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. We had a...
Read moreGreen Door Lofts has become our Waco home away from home. My husband went to Baylor back in the day, and several of his family members have lived in Waco for decades. We stumbled upon Green Door Lofts as a place to crash when we came here for a retirement party in May 2023, and it has become so much more than that in the last six months! Me, my husband, my sister in law, and my (at the time) one-year-old had an incredible stay. Jim and his staff are beyond accommodating. The apartments are clean, spacious, beautifully decorated, well-stocked, and close to everything (truly! there is so much to go to within walking distance of the lofts). There's a pool and a patio space (and my son loves visiting the sweet and friendly cats in the main office space). We came back over the holidays, and then when we unexpectedly needed to return for a family memorial, Jim was able to make it work for us to have two apartments on short notice. While my family knows Waco well, I'm a total newbie, and Jim is always so helpful with advice on where to go and how to get there. With multiple family members and visits, we've stayed in nearly every apartment space, and love how each loft has a theme and different decor. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the delightful homemade breakfast treat (made by Jim's mom) in the freezer every time we arrived. Waco has become quite the destination these last few years and Green Door Lofts is proof of that. If you're looking for a place to stay,...
