The four of us, two retired married couples, were in the area, looking for something to do, and saw the Silver Mine tour had pretty good ratings so thought we'd give it a go. WOW! Exceeded our expectations! Kind of thinking it would be 'museum displays, old stuff, kinda boring' but our guide, a retired miner named Lee, made the mine come alive! So cool to have a guy that actually used to DO this stuff and not just tell us how it works, but in many cases SHOWS us how the mining process works. We learned a lot about silver and how mining works, but moreover, we gained a great appreciation of the miners themselves and the working conditions they endured. Lee was very engaging, very knowledgeable, and easy to hear and understand. Well done sir! An unexpected bonus was the ride to and from the mine was via a narrated trolley trip - and our driver Rob did a fantastic job of giving us some history, showing us some cool stuff, and being a fun tour guide. TIP: Watching the movie 'Dante's Peak' before our tour of Wallace added another dimension of fun to our tour since it was filmed in Wallace. It would have been worth it just for the trolley ride, but the Silver Mine tour was TREASURE. All four of us in the group agreed this was a wonderful experience. Glad we have a means to say THANK YOU and WELL DONE!!

This was one of the greatest experiences of mine and my 12 year old son's life. We started with parking in one of Idaho's most charming towns, Wallace. When we walked into the gift shop for Sierra Silver Mine, we were greeted by the clerk, a very kind lady. We got our ticket and browsed the store until another very friendly man named, Rob announced departure. He and I had talked for a few minutes beforehand and I discovered this gentleman plays in a band. Once we got onto the trolly, Rob drove us through Wallace and up to the mine. My son and I were lucky to get a private tour as nobody else had signed up for that time slot. Rob told the stories of historic Wallace very well. Our tour guide was a retired, rough, 74 year old miner named, Lee. This gentleman had a heart of gold and was so excited to tell us about the mine. He even let my son work some of the equipment! He was thorough in his explanations and sparked a long lasting interest in mining for myself and my son. Lee and my son made a tight bond and we hopped back onto that trolly with big smiles on our faces. Rob finished the tour by taking us around Wallace and sharing more of its sweet and scandalous secrets. Don't forget to bring some cash for tip, these guys definitely deserve a high tip! If you haven't taken this tour, then DO IT!

The tour of the mine which was wonderful and the guide a former miner Fast Freddie was very knowledgeable, engaging, and entertaining was outstanding. I would give this place 5 stars however, the driver for the tour was indifferent to the female military members on the tour. He started out asking were there any military or vets on board. Those that were, raised their hands including myself and a fellow female military vet. He acknowledged the male vets by speaking to them directly but never acknowledged the female vets. It was evident he focused on the male vets by engaging them during the drive to the mine and back. If you are going to ask the question be courteous enough to acknowledge all members of the military or do not ask the question in the first place. The driver mentioned Wyatt Earp during his talk. As we were dropped off, I tried to engage with the driver to let him know that my ancestrial family had ties with Wyatt Earp he basically brushed me off. My friend had the same feeling during the drive. I then left and now my review speaks for itself. Without saying the word sexist I think I am getting my point across.

The only time I have wanted to give something a rating of 6/5. The tour was fantastic and the shop where you buy the tickets before hand was an amazing experience for me and my kids. Lots of cool mining paraphernalia, great deals on minerals and jewelry, and wonderful, warm, and welcoming staff.

When we originally got there the only opportunity to get a family of 5 was three tours later (we stopped into Wallace on a whim as it was our first town into Idaho, heard about the tours and got a recommendation from another family eating at the same restaurant who overheard us debating it, so it was pretty last minute)(also the tours run every half hour!) and I wasn't sure about the time investment, so we decided to just check out the shop at first, but enjoyed it enough that I wanted to give the tour a go and I am so so glad that I did.

I've tried to write this paragraph for a few minutes, and I'm deciding to leave the details light bc I don't know that it's fair to set an expectation for as much attention as we got, but my kids are naturally curious and I can be a bit of a chatterbox, and I really feel lucky to have met the front-man Blake and the owner/manager Stacey. They were two of the warmest and best people I could've imagined meeting in Wallace, and they made our impromptu visit one of my best memories on this trip already.

On top of that experience at the store the tour itself was absolute dynamite. Quick, fun ride around town in a cool trolley with great commentary, the mine itself was awesome and we had fast Freddie who gave a more authentic mining experience than I could've imagined. Go. Go now. Drive yourself on over and check out a cool town and get an amazing experience and make some memories!!

Oh and they have really good ice cream!! Mango sorbet or sherbet, I forget which, was...
