Great hotel. David at the front desk was the reason we stayed, despite the lofty price - he was an excellent representative of the hotel. Once in the room, we knew it was a solid pick - an elegant & comfy room. We'd already driven on past 4 other Idaho hotels that were cheaper because they were shady as hell in the $50-$80 range. Our room was around $120 after taxes, with a cat. We found a syringe under the bed, but that could happen anywhere and the cleaning was impeccable everywhere else so it was an easy oversight. A lesson to just be wary in hotels before letting your pets roam all over the place. The needle had fallen out somewhere and we never found it - possibly sticking out of the carpet somewhere? But that's the fault of junkies, not this hotel. We did a complete cross country road trip and there wasn't another hotel under $150 without some derelict looking figures hanging around (guys with partially shaven heads, multiple pitbulls and a rank odor about them were in basically every stop from Tacoma to Fargo), these days. I was feeling bad for these people who don't always know who they're renting to due to online and phone bookings and realized it must be hard to turn anyone away even with valid concerns about their reputability. (Not on a moral level - who cares what people do in their private lives? But on a "will they wreck this hotel room and fail to pay for damages?" Or "will they leave a forgotten cache of heroin that curious toddler hands find that harried maids might understandably overlook" kind of way)
Anyway, the bed was super comfy, the cat was fine, David was amazing, and the location felt more secure from break-in than anywhere else we found in Northern Idaho. The price was appropriate to the market, and maybe necessary to reduce the number of dogfighting tweakers lurping around the parking lot - which every hotel but this one had in abundance. Really, this place was an oasis, the eye of the storm of destitution and a refuge from a really rough night, and it is the best option in the area if...
Read moreI would give the service staff 0 if it allowed me to. Every single person at the front desk that i encountered was rude, acted like they were bothered by my presence. We arrived in Wallace a little early. So, like i have done many other places, we stopped in to ask if there may be early check ins and if so what time that may be. From the minute i walked in the door, the blond lady sitting at the front desk couldn’t even look up to acknowledge i was there. After telling her hello and getting nothing in return but a scowl. I asked about the possibility of early check in, looked at me with and said “ four!” And proceeded to talk me how busy they are and that would just not be an option. As, I stood there looking at her in disbelief that she obviously should not be working in hospitality if this the way she has to interact with a person paying more than $200 to stay in a sub par little hotel that looks like a convalescent home. She said maybe try back about 2-2:30. So I thanked her and bid her good day. Around 2:30, we stopped back by and this time i sent my friend in to ask, thinking maybe she would be a little nicer and have better luck. Nope, she recieved the same treatment, but this time there was an added woman, and both were just as unpleasant. We came back at 4, and it did not get any better. We were shuffled through with very minimal eye contact and with not one bit of friendliness. To say the least this experience was horrible. When we got to our room, after lugging our suitcase up the stairs because there isn’t even an elevator in the hotel. The bathroom had crumbs on the floor in the back of the door and around the tub and toilet. I could go on but i just hope the management can address maybe just these issues at least. Very disappointed at a stay that was over $200 for one night in...
Read morePoor customer service and horrible management I originally made reservations from 6/23-6/25 in March of this year. The week of June 15th I received a call asking if I still needed my reservation. I told them most people have already booked but I still have 2-3 more that will be staying and need rooms. Monday 6/19 I received a call from my uncle who stated he was going to book. I called Kathy and told her my uncle and my best friend would be calling for reservations for sure. She assured me there would be at least 2 rooms available. So Saturday 6/24 (our wedding day) my best friend and maid of honor showed up stating she called Monday for her reservation and was turned away stating they were booked. So she had to search for a room last minute and was finally able to get into the Lux. The whole point of me making the wedding block of reservations was to avoid this situation.
The second issue is with the restaurant. Around 11:45 Sunday morning my husband, myself, my father in-law, and my husband's best friend decided to come in for brunch. We walked in the door and did not see anyone but heard people talking in a back room. My husband said hello, loud enough to try to get someone's attention, and a lady responded "who are you and what do you want" (without coming out to see who was there and was not very pleasant). My husband replied saying there are customers here that would like breakfast. She then yelled out (still not coming out, just yelling as we don't seem to be important) "we're closed, didn't you see that the open sign is off." Well when I go out to eat (especially when it's before noon) I don't look to see if there is an open sign. If the door is unlocked (which is was) I walk in.
These were minor details but for our wedding weekend they were...
