A wonderful surprise indeed! BIG motel room at an affordable rate. My son and I rode from Plummer, ID to Mullan, ID and back to Wallace, ID (the only place to stay at in Mullan didn't take our reservation request "because of this virus"). The owner/manager of the Hercules Inn does it right. 1) We made reservation by phone 2) He takes a deposit 3) We showed up at the motel and found our assigned room posted on a piece of paper 4) We went in our room and found the key waiting on us - Done. It was a very creative way to reduce contact and still offer a service during this time of conflicting paradigms. Regarding the rooms: Clean. Plenty of towels. Full kitchen (not a kitchenette (we stayed in room #1)). Two beds. Recliners. TVs (not a TV fan but 2 TVs nonetheless). I have the feeling this motel is owned by local folks and they are very accommodating. To the owner: My son was a bit skeptical about the motel (with our long distance bike rides, I've checked us in some pretty questionable accommodations). However, when he woke up the next morning before our bike ride back toward Plummer, he said, "Daddy, this is a great motel; I'm glad we stayed here and not at (insert the other motel here)." Thanks so much.
PS: EASY access to the Trail of the Coeur d' Alenes. Just across the street and slightly to the right is an opening to the guard rail that will take you across the water and onto the Trail under the Interstate. Go right to Mullan and...
Read moreVery happy with this place. Especially as a gateway or waypoint for the Hiawatha trail or Trail of the Coeur D'alene. Good price for a solid apartment style stay. It is like an Airbnb without the service fee. But don’t expect old cooking oil or a bunch of left behind condiments. Dish soap and basic bath amenities...yes.||We had suite 4 and it was very nice. I think all four suites are similar. ||Large entry sitting area, for shoes and storage (two bikes stored). Master bedroom had a comfortable king bed and closet. Full bathroom. Kitchen was huge with many cabinets, cooking utensils, coffee+maker, full stove, standard full sized refrigerator, stainless steel double bowl sink. Living room; two recliners, two tables and a 2nd queen sized bed. All great spaces. Two LCD flat panel tv’s, one in the living room and one in the bedroom, both with DirectTV, many channels. Wifi is okay. 2.6/0.5Mb up/down. There is a large, operational air conditioning (A/C) window unit that worked great in September. There is a hot tub on site. No contact entry and check-in for the...
Read moreI used to live in Wallace Idaho and I know the town well. I've stayed in three other hotels there, and there're all fine, but the historic Hercules is a step above. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and decorated with taste and nuance (TNT boxes salvaged from the area mines used for table stands!); the kitchenette is fabulous and well provisioned. Jamie & Barbra have done everything to make your stay here a great one. I believe all the suites are laid out the same; they are very comfortable for a couple but would also be adequate for a family of 4 or perhaps even more. You're close to the community garden and the Victorian homes, and historic downtown Wallace & the Pulaski Tunnel trail are only a short drive away (actually, you can easily walk to downtown from here). The best lodgings in the best small...
