The Ryan Hotel in Wallace, ID was an absolute treat! The room was warm and cozy, Wallace is always absolutely stunning, and the service was fantastic. We showed up in our 1920s style wedding attire, and Donna, the owner, was thrilled to welcome us. She gave us a warm, celebratory invite to our room, and after we went out for an evening walk, we returned to find the cutest gift bag filled with treats, a lovely Historic Ryan Hotel mug (as heavy coffee drinkers, this was quite the perfect gift), and even a Christmas ornament, handwritten with our names and our wedding date! The clawfoot tub was large enough for two! I believe just the one room has the tub. If you are out playing in nature, you may want to snag a room with a shower, as this room has only the tub, just a heads up! Our checkout was on Easter morning, and we were pleasantly surprised with another sweet gift- a little egg filled with some chocolates. 🥰 The lobby has a microwave so you can heat up your tasty leftovers from the local restaurants, and Donna offers plenty of coffee and a light breakfast as well. The lobby also has all the local menus, so you can get a glimpse into what to eat for the night! Our room also came with three issues of True West, which was the perfect start to the morning in the red, vintage reading chair. The little details that go into each room are stunning. We are immensely grateful for the friendliness and hospitality we received as well. It truly felt like a blast to the past, and being surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Silver Valley, and away from the chaotic noise of the city... it was perfect. We cannot wait...
Read moreWe were on a family trip to bike on the Route of the Hiawatha (highly recommend) near Wallace, Idaho. We needed a place to stay and we were fortunate to find the Ryan Hotel that we booked the late afternoon of our stay. I made the reservation directly from the Ryan Hotel website, it was easy to see what rooms were available and book the room that best fit my family. After making the late afternoon booking, we received very detailed emails with directions and instructions and it make the whole late check-in process very easy. We stayed in Room #3, which was a wonderful accommodation. It had two bedrooms, each with a very comfortable queen bed, and a private bathroom. The room was spotless, so very clean. We have stayed at nice properties before that were very clean, but this was so excellent. A lot of times when you stay at quaint historic properties, cleanliness is hard due to the age of the property. This was not the case with the Ryan Hotel. The room and common areas were pristinely clean! All of the hardware is original and the rooms are decorated so appropriately in that timeless classic look that reflects the historic nature of this hotel and the town. We had a great night, and when checking out in the morning were provided with fresh delicious cherries to eat on our way. I could not recommend a hotel any more than I can recommend the wonderful Ryan Hotel. We will definitely be back, and when we do return we will plan to stay longer to enjoy the beautiful historic town as well. Thank you for the great...
Read moreThe Ryan hotel is quaint with simply appointed rooms. Ours had a claw foot tub. The room was spacious and had a dresser, mini-fridge, desk and chair. In the mornings they have coffee and assorted bars and fruit. The bags of grapes were a nice and appreciated touch. Now the not so good. The bed was noisy, just springs and a light covering with no headboard. The sheets were worn thin and in spots the fabric had decayed into a lattice with missing spots. Since this was an older property and the first time we had stayed here, it seemed fairly normal and other than mentioning it to my wife it was ignored and forgotten about After we ended our stay and returned home I received a phone call asking me to call back. When I did so I was asked if I knew anything about the tears in the sheets. I mentioned that I noticed that they appeared to have been heavily bleached and the fabric was thin and the conversation quickly changed. Prior to this I would have characterized the Ryan as charming. No TVs, claw foot tub, tall ceilings. But being questioned about damages that I didn’t cause was unexpected and added an unwelcome taint to an otherwise nice vacation. Donna, the owner, was friendly at check in, but being questioned about sheets, was this really necessary? When I mentioned the condition of the sheets and how I thought they looked like they were washed very hot with a lot of bleach, the conversation turned to hoping my stay was nice. It WAS until...
