Even though the quality of the clothes from Alton lane is good, my overall experience has been terrible. I am not sure if its just the DC showroom or the entire company but i have little reason to purchase anything else from them. I came in to get measured for two suits and a couple of shirts in March. I was received by Caitlin (who moved on from Alton Lane very shortly afterwards). My credit card was charged for one suit and two shirts on that day. I called in after 8 weeks to check up on my order since i did not receive an update and the online status showed order pending. I could not reach anybody on the phone but did receive a call back after two days. The gentleman on the phone from NY told me my order had not been put in correctly and that it would take another month to finish. I asked to cancel my order but he said he would throw in a free shirt and i relented. Six weeks later i called in again and could not get any one on the phone. In July i finally got an email that my suit was ready. I came in for a fitting and met with Chris who took measurements for slight alterations and promised a week for delivery. After two weeks, i emailed and was told the suit had been ready a week ago but i was never called. I got my suit and first shirt at that time. I asked Chris about the free shirt and he said he did not know about that so i did not pursue the matter any further. I sent an email in late August to ask on the status of my second shirt and was told on Aug 22 that it was in the showroom. I asked for it to be shipped and was assured it would be shipped the day after. And it wasn't. Finally six months after the initial order, in late September i have all my items.
The way i see it, Alton Lane has several major systematic issues - Extremely high turnover Poor order management Lack of centralized and responsive customer service Lack of communications between the factory and...
Read moreBest men's clothing shopping experience: Lynn and Meredith are both super friendly and helpful; the store is calm and aesthetically pleasing; and the process of getting fitted and choosing fabrics is very relaxed. So far I've bought a suit and shirt here and both have been excellent (in every way: experience, fit, and fabric). If something comes back and doesn't fit quite right, they're happy to have it altered for you. They have books upon books of fabrics to choose from, which they are happy to guide you through to find the perfect fabric for your garment. Getting custom clothing can obviously be a bit more expensive than buying something off the shelf, but it's money well spent because you have an excellent selection of high quality options in just your size. I will definitely keep going back to Alton Lane every time I need to purchase new...
Read moreShutout to Beth - excellent customer service on her part & the only good thing in this whole experience. Alton Lane made the worst suit I've ever purchased in my life. Their alterations are terrible & super off - I had to go back a couple of times because they did not stick to the original measurements. So yeah, you pay a lot of money for custom suit that doesn't even fit well.
Their old stylist basically created the whole suit for me - I only picked the suit color. Turns out a few days before my wedding, I found out that their inside linings basically made my whole suit and pants see through! Yes, you can see the boxer and everything... When I asked online customer service to do alterations, they said no because it passed the 30 days warranty.
So if you want to pay a lot of money for ill-fitted & see-through suits, do pay...
