From one girl’ girl to another, I am begging you to go anywhere else! I won’t speak ill of the lash technicians here, Naomi and Nadia do a great job. But please, save yourself the heartache I have endured, and DONT get your brows microbladed here! Lucy showed up for my appointment 30 minutes late, with a coffee in hand, and no real apology or customer service. But hey, I wanted my eyebrows done, and I had already waited 30 minutes, so I might as well give her a chance. Throughout the appointment, I was still feeling positively and hoping I was going to love my eyebrows. Sure 850 is a hefty price tag, but it’s worth it if they’re great. Imagine my horror when I sit up and see eyebrows so uneven that it’s laughable. Completely different thicknesses, arches that are neither sisters nor twins. Tales that are noticeably different lengths. They even look like they’re different colors. I expressed that I felt uncomfortable with how uneven they were and pointed to specific spots where I would like more strokes. Lucy SIGHS in annoyance, and goes in adding more strokes to a completely different spot, making them even more uneven!! At this point, I accept that… Maybe it’s best to just give up today and come back for my 6 week touch up. I’m then informed, after ALREADY checking out, that for the six week touchup appointment, it’s not included in the $850, and will actually be another $150. I express that I’m uncomfortable leaving unhappy with my brows and paying for a correction. Lucy says that’s how it works, if I want good brows I’ll pay more. So I schedule it. What else can I do? Throughout the healing process, the unevenness gets worse and worse. I’m spending 30 minutes a day filling in my eyebrows just to make them look more similar. Eliminating the benefit to get micro blading in the first place. It didn’t make my mornings any shorter! Finally, one week before my six week touch up, they text me and tell me Lucy will not be honoring my appointment. She has a personal matter. I said I understood, things come up, and I would be happy to move my appointment to the previous Saturday as they suggested, but would Lucy be able to come to the Tysons location where I will already be getting my lashes touched up instead of making me drive an hour out of my way to DC? I’m told no, Lucy doesn’t work at Tysons on Saturday and I will have to come to DC at 2 PM. I remind them that my lash appointment in Tysons is at 2 PM and I really don’t wanna have to drive to two places. Surely since she’s inconveniencing me and I’m being cool about it, she can meet me halfway? They refuse. Then Im told I will have to come during the week instead. I remind them that I scheduled it on a weekend because I can’t miss work. I have a demanding job and cannot miss work. I’m feeling unheard because they keep repeating that I need to come on Monday-Wednesday. As I’m asking, if perhaps we could just do it a week later on that Saturday or Sunday and honor my need for a weekend appointment, the receptionist HANGS UP ON ME mid sentence. I can back and inform another technician what has happened and make clear I want to cancel entirely and get my deposits back. I’m no longer comfortable trusting them with me face. Many minutes later, Lucy herself finally deems it fit to talk to me. She calls back, and explains to me how it’s my fault for not being more flexible, that she did nothing wrong, and that she can “try” to meet me in Tyson’s after my last appointment on Saturday. It takes almost 30 minutes on the phone of repeating that I want my deposit back and I don’t want to do business with her anymore before she stops arguing with me. Now I’m gonna have to pay to get them completely redone. I don’t have the money. I saved up for this. I’m heartbroken, and frustrated, and I look awful. Please don’t go here. Go...
Read moreTHEY CUT AND BURNED MY FACE AND WERE INCREDIBLY RUDE AND IT FELT RACIST. i have been coming here for a year for lashes and eyebrow waxes but what happened to me yesterday has ruined any good will had for this establishment. i clicked for “any available person” to do my lashes when signing up and got assigned to Penny. from the minute i got there, the visit went downhill. when doing my eyebrows she took about 10 minutes to get set up. after she started she got eyebrow wax all over my left eye eyelashes and it was a big burning mess to clean up. she didn’t listen to what i wanted for my eyebrows but i gave up trying to explain what was wrong because there seemed to be a language barrier. when she did my right eyebrow SHE CUT ME. i have a scab under my eyebrow now, photo attached. this isn’t even the worst part. she started my eyelashes and immediately was rough with my head and seemed agitated. i tried to stay very still so as not to irk her any further. she kept a audibly sighing. she told me that even though i was coming in at 2 weeks and 6 days and had paid for a 3 week refill, she was going to charge me for a 4 week refill. she said that, and then paused, and went “if you still want them.” it was weird, like she was hoping i didn’t want my eyelashes done at all. i said i’d pay the extra rate. once she finally started doing my lashes she kept saying “relax” in a not at all friendly tone. she then accused me of having music playing too loud. it’s hard not to feel like this was racist. i am black and it felt like she was accusing me of blasting hip hop in my ears, she said it was making me tense. i actually my volume at about 10% and was playing lyric-less classical music to try to remain calm. you have to imagine, it fairly uncomfortable being there with your eyes closed, not offered a blanket as other customers were, with a woman who clearly doesn’t want to do the job you are paying her top dollar to do. i told her i didn’t have anything loud playing. she kept telling me to relax and i didn’t know what she meant. i stayed as still as possible. she took forever. i’ve had my lashes done many times here and it’s never taken this long. i was late to my doctors appointment even though i had scheduled it with a 45 minutes buffer of time between when this apt was supposed to end. i was there for well over two hours. the entire time she kept huffing. towards the end, i felt like i had to sneeze. i didn’t move my face but my hand to push my mask back up over my nose (she had pulled it down) and she huffed super loud like a teenager and said OKAY WE ARE DONE. and then i was like “is the eye done?” and she said “i can keep going for more minutes if you will be still.” that’s funny because i assumed the reason she was doing it is because i was paying nearly $200 not including tip, not so that she could just be a super rude and sour person to me. i said okay, i’ll try. she kept sighing and grabbed my head roughly and held it in place. she said my eye was twitching. which, if there was any twitching, it was because i’d been laying there under a bright light for over two hours and she had already POURED WAX ON MY EYE earlier and CUT MY OTHER EYE AREA. she didn’t even give me one of those little eye brushes as is customary. totally terrible. this whole visit sucked. i think in the end they only charged me for the 3 weeks + eyebrow but even that was honestly way too much to be DISRESPECTED, BURNED, CUT, and HAVE MY TIME WASTED. this is incredibly disappointing. i feel like i wasted my money and i have to find a...
Read moreI don't normally write reviews like this but pretty much everything that could go wrong, went wrong when I came to this nail salon. First, I am a regular at the Laveda boutique in Georgetown. I cant say enough good things about that location. Everyone is amazing and so professional, and my nails always look and feel amazing. Due to other plans I had on 14th street one day, I decided to try out the 14th street location. I had a referral discount that I wanted to use on my appointment, so when I booked online, I included that discount code. Due to changes in my schedule, I had to switch the time of my appointment; however, the booking would not allow me to transfer my discount code as it "had already been used," but I never actually got to use it. "Whatever," I thought. I then booked the new time-slot without the discount (note: I had earned this discount by referring several of my friends to Laveda). When I showed up, I found out that they had given my appointment slot away to a walk-in because I never confirmed my appointment via text. I must have missed the text message, and I admit that is on me; however, the salon never followed up even once, and they STILL mentioned charging me a cancellation/no-show fee when THEY WERE THE ONES who cancelled on ME after I walked two miles to get there for my scheduled appointment. I argued with the front desk for a bit, and they offered to switch me to one of the later appointments that day and drop conversations about the fee. I still thought it was ridiculous they were ever trying to charge me a fee when they gave away the appointment I showed up for... but fine. I took it. I showed up later that evening for Gel-X. When I tell you my nails HURT SO BAD afterwards, I literally could barely type on my computer for the next week. I left with bloody nailbeds, a terrible looking Gel-x manicure (shape and color were all off, plus they were SOO thick) and sore fingers. I didn't complain at that time. I know now that I should have, but honestly the pain didn't really hit me until after she had finished. It was also nighttime so I didn't really notice how bad the shape and color were until the next day. I just overpaid and left. Fast forward two weeks, I went back to my beloved Georgetown location to get my nails fixed and re-done. The nail techs at Georgetown were absolutely APPALLED at my nails. They were honestly in disbelief that I had them done at another Laveda location until they pulled up my booking information. The manager asked to take photos of my nails so she could report it, and they told me they'd be unable to do another set of gel-x because of how badly damaged my nails were. The lovely nail tech at Georgetown did everything she could to save and protect my nails, and I'm so grateful to her for that. I knew they were bad, but I had no idea they were THAT bad until I got that validation. Please don't come here. The customer service is absolutely terrible, and my nails are still in recovery almost a month later. I'm giving one star here just to say please go to the Georgetown Laveda location if you want Gel-X nails or really any other service. They are absolutely amazing over there and deserve...
