Madewell — Local services in Washington

I have had two negative experiences now at this store. The first time, I was willing to let it go but the person who was “helping” me try on jeans acted like they didn’t want to help me because they “didn’t have my size” and kept looking at my body in a way that made me uncomfortable especially since I’m still adjusting to my postpartum body. Today, I went to return some items that I purchased online and was told one of the items was final sale and could not be returned. The jeans were the same style and size of a pair I already have from madewell so I bought this pair online but they didn’t fit. When I stated this to the manager, she told me I could “sell them on posh mark” and that for jeans I shouldn’t buy them online but come into the store to try them on. I explained to her that I live far from the store and have a one year old so it’s not easy for me to shop in person. After these two negative experiences, I won’t be back...

I had such a good experience at this Madewell this afternoon! Last weekend I had an unfortunate encounter at Georgetown Madewell, where the sales rep kept insisting I should buy jeans that just didn’t fit me. I ended up having to order online in a size up. I decided to come to 14th street instead of Georgetown to return the I’ll-fitting jeans. Despite having a complicated return request, the team on 14th street were super kind and patient. The staff here is so nice and helpful! Darcy especially was great and I forget the name of the other woman I worked with but she was super nice too! They helped me size my jeans correctly and didn’t make me feel rushed even though I normally get anxious trying things on. They brought me several styles and sizes and then were able to donate the worn pair I brought in (was hoping to rebuy the exact pair but it’s not made anymore, although I found another great pair that...
