I can't even begin to say when the last time I was at this pretty little park in Silverdale, I would have to say years probably. It has been so long that I can't say I remember what it looked like, at least not in detail. I know stuff has changed, there has been so much construction work going on, and for a while, no one could even get to the park. For that said, on a whim, I decided to drive to it today, and low and behold, I was able to get there. I saw no shortage of parking; this park also offers parking spaces for boat trailers; yes, you can launch your boat from here; also, no regular cars are allowed in this area. Have I mentioned the picnic shelter, a great place to have a family gathering, birthday parties, etc.! It looked like a playground and a restroom area close at hand near the shelter! The large picnic shelter has lighting, electrical outlets, sinks, countertops, and running water; I think it may also offer a bbq. I believe they also offer a gazebo, smaller for a more private party. And scattered about are picnic tables, great for a little outing, but no significant commitments of having to drive very far to be outdoors! If memory serves me correctly, you can see Mt. Rainier from this park on clear days! Aside from what I've stated, the fun thing is that old town Silverdale is right across the street, and you're less than ten minutes by car to Kitsap Mall, Safeway, or Silverdale in general. It's a great little place to check out if you have never seen it before! The park is at 3337 NW Byron St, Silverdale, Washington. NW Byron street is off Silverdale Way NW, located in Old Town Silverdale!
Please, do your part in keeping this park and all parks clean and litter-free.

Read moreWe found this spot just by scrolling down the shoreline on Google maps. We got takeout from Peter's Kitchen and headed this way on a whim. We went to where the Google dot brings you first. This was like 7:45ish, pm, mid July, so an hour and a half or so before sunset. Parking lot was packed, park was packed, full of families grilling, kids running around screaming, having a great time. It looked beautiful, but rowdy, like a gaggle of rambunctious 10 year olds kind of rowdy. So we back tracked a little, northwards I guess, and two parking lots up, there's a huge lot at the public boat launch and pier. Most of it is specifically for trucks w boat trailers, but there's a row of spots for small cars right at the water line. Immediately to the right of that row, like 100 some feet north of the dock, there's a public beach, with 2 picnic tables just 15 feet off the parking lot, and not a soul to be seen. Gorgeous spot for a serene sunset picnic in public in private. Truly idyllic. Looking out across the bay toward the sea and the setting sun, I told my partner, this is my happy place. I threw the magnet in off the end of the dock a few times after dinner, but it didn't hit...
Read moreSilverdale Waterfront Park is located in "Old Town" Silverdale, where the settlers first laid roots for the town in the late 19th Century. It's amenities include a deep water dock with mooring, electric hook ups for overnight boaters, a 2 lane boat launch, a sea wall, several hundred feet of tidal beaches, a large covered dining area with long tables and benches, a well equipped children's play area with lots of things to climb, swing, jump, and crawl on. On the Eastern edge of the park is a WWII memorial with flags honoring all the branches of the military, The Army, Navy, Marine Corp., Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. The flagpoles surround a flattened out globe of the Earth with surprisingly detailed continents and it is hands on so you can walk on it, kids can play in it. There are 2 restroom facilities so you're never far from one. They did have kayaks and paddleboards for rent last year, not sure about this year. There's also the nice views of Dyes Inlet and Mt. Rainer...
