Yesterday we decided to go to a restaurant we had been a little curious about for years. Veneto Italian Restaurant in Silverdale, Washington. Honestly, it isn't much to look at from the outside; The location is in a small strip mall around a few other small restaurants and stores. So the "visually" pleasing part of it isn't there. However, walking inside, it was cozy and cute; not a lot of seating options available but more of a warm feeling. Gabriela was our server; she was warm and very pleasant with a beautiful smile.
Looking through the menu, I noticed the large array of items to choose from, each one sounding better than the last one, but I've always stood by the notion that more isn't necessarily better; it usually means something has to compromise quality or amount wise. However, for that said, our dinner last night was incredible! We started with a warm bread basket with an olive oil and herb dip, then moved on to the appetizer: six coconut prawns with a pineapple apricot dipping sauce; I could have eaten only that for dinner and been full. It was so good! We then moved on to our main dinner. BTW we shared our plates. I ordered Lobster Ravioli Bobbyno; which contained five (I believe) large lobster ravioli, around a half-dollar size, with shallots and a cheese cream sauce, and a balsamic drizzle; it all just worked perfectly and tasted so good! The Lobster Ravioli came with a choice of regular dinner salad or Caesar, and I chose Caesar salad; the dressing was great, definitely not a bottle or packaged dressing!
My hubby ordered Pollo Veneto, a chicken sauteed in olive oil and fresh garlic. It also had spinach, tomatoes, and basil with hints of red pepper flakes and parmesan. Plated alongside all of that were fresh veggies and angel hair pasta. Talk about something full of flavor, and the textures were perfect!
Veneto was clean, with no dirty tables or crumbs on the floor and no sticky menus! I did notice that the booths that surrounded us (we sat at a middle table) had large bottles of hand sanitizers on them; unfortunately, the tables did not, but we always come prepared anyway!
I am rating this a four star, not due to the food at all, but the restaurant is cute but a little dated and I wish they offered a couple of smaller tables to use, not tiny, but not so overwhelming for two people.
Plenty of parking spaces are available, so parking is not an issue.
Veneto Italian Restaurant's location is 9468 Silverdale Way NW, Silverdale, Washington. Several small businesses surround them, including Joy Teriyaki, Silverdale Antique store, Liv a Latte, and across Silverdale Way lies Grocery Outlet, Greens on your Way, and Harbor Freight tools.
Now is a perfect time to support one of our local small businesses and have some great foodđ

Read moreWhere do I begin? My friend was complaining about not being able to find good Italian food so I told him I would take him here because my last visit was very pleasant. This visit was nothing like the last. Of the 160 spent, only the salads were edible... Minus the stale croutons. How old do croutons need to be to go stale anyway? So all 3 of us started with a salad, the server was not happy that we were there and could care less that we wanted to give our friend a good meal. Not once did she even Consider saying happy birthday or sharing any pleasantries, and had to keep reminding us they close at 9. We ordered 2 appetizers and told us we all had to order everything at that time and wasn't too interested in answering questions. We settled on 2 risotto and a seafood pasta. After all, I had told them both how much I liked the risotto in the past. I settled on the scallop risotto and I hate to say this, but it was about the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life. I didn't tell the server that because I didn't want to be rude, but we did say that I could not eat it. When she asked why, I explained the scallops were hard and well done and tasted fishy. Not in a good way. A fresh scallop does not taste like rotton salmon... The balsamic "drizzle" was literally like a soup, making it Taste like a sour cream fish smush pie. And took it away and asked if I wanted anything else. I said no, you said your kitchen was closing so I'll just eat these appetizers and dessert. We went on to order 3 desserts and was finally able to get our water filled. In the end, we received our bill and we were still charged for the plate that was not even touched! At my friends request on his birthday, we chose to not ask about the rotton scallops, pay the full bill and still give her a fat tip despite the terrible service. It's a bummer that I can never go there again after being treated this way and spending 160 on a salad. I've been in the restaurant biz most of my life. This is not how to keep customers. A little more oversight would do you well. The entire time we felt like she wanted to spit in our food. It was clear she was put out by our being there at 830 and was gonna let us know she wasn't happy about making an extra 50 for 3 happy kind locals that just want to try to keep it in the family. Eating out just sucks anymore. Good luck. And just as I thought... Im in bed barfing my guts out in pain because of your rotton scallops you charged me for after I told your server they were rotton and I...
Read moreMy wife and I went to Veneto's last night based on reviews, personally the interior needs a renovation, it seems like it hasn't been updated since the 80's or early 90's; however, I don't mind it, but they need to do a new paint job and flooring looks dirty, old and dated.
Their food was okay at best, my wife seemed to like her dish and we both got the same it was the steak with gorgonzola sauce and I personally thought their dish was garbage, the mushrooms were over seasoned with a heavy amount of raw Italian seasoning that wasnt cooked, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were cooked the previous day and microwaved I felt I was getting someones leftover dinner scraps; in fact, imagine this the over seasoned mushrooms on the bottom the two day old mash potatoes on top of that, then the steak that had no flavor at all topped with this weird sauce that I'm sure that they didn't bring their A game to the chefs table making it.; although, I don't know if the chef was having an off day and I personally don't know if I will ever go back; even though, the owner did ask me if I wanted to get something else, I did choose another thing off the menu which was the chicken marsala and it was confusing it tasted like chinese food; however, a note to the chef if he is looking at this you don't put angel hair pasta or any kind of pasta in a chicken marsala dish and this place is overpriced for the quality of the dishes your sending out, as a lot of the dishes tasted frozen and...
