Peninsula BevCo Brewhouse was previously known as "Breaking Waves" Brewery, among other names. The last time we visited, it was still called Breaking Waves.
Today, on February 1, 2025, we decided to try Peninsula BevCo Brewhouse. As we walked in, I noticed that the aesthetics hadn't changed much. There were TVs on the walls, and I noticed there was no fish tank like I remembered from before.
We were greeted, seated with menus, and then provided waters. Mike, our server, was friendly and laid back, properly checking on us without being pushy.
Looking at the menu, it was larger than I expected, that was not including the alcohol they serve (theres plenty of that to choose from as well 😉), just the food.
I have mentioned in previous reviews that more options aren’t always better; in fact, sometimes they can be worse. To accommodate a larger variety of items, some aspects may be compromised, particularly regarding ingredient quality and portion sizes. Additionally, there's the issue of decision fatigue, which occurs when consumers face too many choices, making the selection process overwhelming. Peninsula Brew (I'll shorten it for typing sake) came close to this.
Ok enough preaching on this, and on to what we ordered.
I ordered the Thai Peanut Quinoa Bowl with chicken. From what I remember, it consisted of a bed of quinoa topped with shredded chicken that had fabulous flavor, pickled slaw, jalapeños, cucumber, and either Thai basil or cilantro. The dish was served with peanut aioli sauce on the side. I looked up the menu for the exact ingredients, but the specific ingredients wasn't offered. Anyone who orders this will be pleased; the sauce was good, but I felt the dish didn't need it.
My husband ordered the Brewhouse Burger. The menu only lists the names of the items, so it doesn’t specify the ingredients. However, I can tell you that the burger included beef, tomato, lettuce, cheese, ketchup, and mayo, and it was served with spectacular fries (he ordered them extra crispy) as a side. He mentioned that the burger was delicious and that it didn’t need the ketchup or mayo. Overall, who ever orders this will be happy.
The tables were clean, the brewhouse was filling up with patrons, and the restroom was tidy with no unpleasant odors. Our server was friendly, and the food was delectable. Despite all of this, I noticed a "in-home service charge of 3%" on our receipt. While it didn't amount to much, this wasn’t an inexpensive lunch either.
After researching the term "in-home service charge," I found that it refers to a mandatory fee added to a customer's bill in a business, such as a restaurant, to cover the cost of providing services.
My feelings about this service charge are mixed, however, I do feel that they should clarify ahead what this charge indicates and I'll leave it at that.

When it comes to parking, there is a small gravel lot next to the restaurant. There is also street parking available nearby. If these options are full, you can park at Silverdale Waterfront Park, which is just across the street from the brewhouse.

Read moreI do think this location has done a better job with service than their main location, of which you can see my review of if you are curious. The food was well prepared and came out in a timely fashion, the price to portion was a little small in my option. Overall it was pretty good, however, the reason my review is two stars is because, and I have seen this in many establishments lately which I don't care for, is that at the bottom of the menu they mention that in addition to your normal tip and tax, there is also a 3% "service charge" in order to keep up with inflation. I get that inflation is an issue but what I don't care for is putting an extra "fee", essentially, off to the bottom corner in a not so obvious place, rather than just being outright and raising prices. This isn't the first time I've seen it and it's unfortunately becoming too common in my opinion. If they remove the "fee" I'd update the review but until then, off my own values, I won't care to...
