I was a new customer to the Potters Shop and my first encounter was a horrible experience. I was super excited about placing the 50lb clay order with them online. I made my purchase on a Sunday night and received an email the following Monday stating that the item was out of stock but that It would be delivered before the end of that week and I would receive a phone call when delivered to the store. Ok no problem! I call Wednesday to check on the status of the order and it wasn’t in. I called back Thursday and the guy tells me on the phone he had tracked the shipment and it would be delivered on Friday morning. I asked him to call me when it came in and if I could pick it up after 5pm on Friday because I work in Milwaukee. He assured me that would be fine. Friday comes and I call at 5pm to make sure the order was there and ready for pick-up. After 3 calls and a voicemail left, still no response. I call Saturday morning at 11am and speak to a guy that tells me the shipment arrived later than expected on Friday but still during business hours and no one got to it. No one called me Saturday morning stating the clay was delivered and this guy tells me basically if I don’t still want the clay because I was dissatisfied with the level of customer service I could just have my money back. This is not how business should be conducted and being a “small family owned business” does not absolve your establishment from providing great customer service, owning your mistakes and doing the right things to make the customer feel like their concern mattered at the end of the day. I am offended and believe that since I hadn’t purchased some large $100+ order, it was no major concern to rectify the situation by that staff member. I HIGHLY recommend not patronizing the...
Read moreHave taken classes here and purchased various supplies. Will use their kiln firing services in the near future too. CLASSES- wonderful instruction with great teaching techniques. There is no scolding and no "you HAVE to do it only one way" style teaching. Just teaching proper principles and techniques for success. SHOPPING- The instructors and workers (usually clay artists themselves) are helpful and knowledgeable on products, which is really helpful for beginners who sorta know what they want, but need guidance. They are very friendly and easy to talk with. Being that most are clay artists, they are very passionate about their job and assisting customers for success with practical knowledge. SUPPLIES - everything is reasonably priced, products are from reputable manufacturers, and if you aren't sure about something just ask and someone will happily help. If they don't have it they can order just...
Read moreIt is a great place to buy supplies from but I will never trust them with firing my ceramics again. They wiped off all the glaze of the bottom of the ten pieces I brought to them but it was done very sloppy and can't bring these pieces to the craft fair that I'm doing in less than a week. I'm very disgusted and have had no response from the manager or owner so far.
Update- if I was told to not glaze the bottoms, I would've happily left it off. The other place that I've gone to has never had a problem with my pieces, so I assumed it would've been the same at your place. I don't have the time to bring my pieces back as I live an hour away and was supposed to do a craft show on Saturday. But those pieces aren't sellable and one piece is cracked. Again, I enjoy your selection of glazes, but I know better for next time and I did finally get...
