Meijer — Attraction in Wauwatosa

Seems like every time I go between 5pm and 8pm there are NO CASHIERS.

The only option is self checkout.

I've spoken to management before about this.

The last email I received from the store manager assured me she always has her employees working and I was then led to think I must have encountered a fluke all the times no cashiers were available.

No . I frequent that store regularly and once again it happened.

Numerous people stop by this location when getting off work.

I had been shopping for over an hour and half - had about 2 weeks worth of groceries, some cleaning items, toiletries, and paper products.

My budget was 300 and I was close to that limit.

I get to the front to check out and guess what?!?!?! NO CASHIERS. NOT A SINGLE ONE.

Long, extensive lines snaking down the aisles for self check out.

Were employees present?

Oh yeah, 2 were holding up the customer service desk, talking.

A few were hanging out around store - also talking.

If you have time to lean, you have time to clean or even better - run a register!

And if they are on break, they do not need to be on the floor.

I walked up and down the line of closed cash registers in bewilderment, asking "anyone working?"

Nope. Not a soul.

What did I do?

Left my cart in the middle of the floor and walked out.

If you want me to sit there and self check out almost $300 worth of items, you better be giving me a hefty discount.

I have been shopping here since they first opened and as of this Saturday I will NEVER step foot in another one! Myself, my uncle, and my younger brother came shopping for 3 different households so we did 3 different transactions. They checked out with a clerk I did self checkout. My debit card was locked by my financial institution I asked the girl who was supervising the self checkout to wait a second while I called my bank. She smirked canceled the entire transaction then walked away. While waiting on hold I decided to just use my credit card. I went back to the kiosk she said oh u need to empty all the bags and redo everything. I asked her why she canceled it when no one was in line and could she help Re bag it she walked away ! She then called a supervisor and told them we were stealing when my uncle and brother had just walked up and was on the end re bagging what I rung up ! Two supervisors come in front of the store and loudly ask us for receipts and our bags we put everything on the counter , they checked everything piece by piece then told us to put our stuff back in the carts And they walked away ! This store is getting worse and worse. I’ve been a religious shopper here for the last 3+ years, and over the last year and half or so I’ve got food from here and it was molded/bad after a few days of buying. Doesn’t happen anywhere else, other than this location. Everything from hot dogs, milk, to deli meat. They tried charging full price, for items that EXPIRED days before, my milk I’ve bought was bad (not expired according to the date but was curdled) Their clearance items never ring up, constantly a battle to show proof of their clearance items- they make you walk back to the area to show them, half the time they put items that aren’t on clearance on clearance rack “excludes sleepwear” but there’s ONLY sleepwear on the rack?? Where is the GM, does she not over-see her store, hear these complaints? These are your employees. I cannot be the only customer having issues with their food these past few months. It’s sad bcuz it’s the only grocery store close…the WB location is wonderful! They should really start having mandatory inspections on their food/produce- make sure temps are up to standard, expired food is either taken off shelves especially after 4 days old milk/chz/meat or marked down atleast.
