I have been to the Explorium near Southridge many times… this new location in Wauwatosa either doesn’t quite measure up or the Explorium’s overall quality has decreased. It was not a bad experience, overall, but the quality to cost ratio seemed considerably lower than my previous visits to that other location. Their beer cheese soup, probably the best I’ve ever had and my favorite dish from the other location, was served in the tiniest cup ever (but served with a comically oversized spoon, so I guess there’s some balance in the universe?) and it apparently costs a dollar more on the check than the menu says. On the other hand, a huge side order of slightly undercooked but edible curry fries was two dollars, so the portions and pricing are all over the map. The service was good… it wasn’t a terrible experience, but seven bucks for a shot glass worth of, admittedly delicious, soup seems a bit much. I wish there was a better soup entree option, because I would pay more to get an actual bowl of the stuff. We will probably be back, as this location is far closer to home, but my original excitement for this opening was not justified by our first...
Read moreKind of an odd experience last night at this establishment. When I came in someone was waiting at the host stand. Both of us waited for several minutes before someone came up. I saw staff walking around yet none of them acknowledged us. Once someone helped the person in front of me I asked for a table for two outside. I was told the wait was around 30 minutes. I gave my name and number then sat at the bar. My friend came and we had a couple drinks when I noticed it had been over an hour and 20 minutes. I looked outside and several tables were open. I told the bartender that I had put my name in and heard nothing. He shrugged it off and told us we could get a table and he’d send a server. After a bit of a wait someone finally came up. By this time we decided on a couple apps since we no longer wanted an entire meal by this point. The Ruben dip was not good at all. Very disappointing. The Brussel sprouts were decent. All and all our experience was not great. They seem very...
Read moreScott, the bartender, provided terrible service. The restaurant wasn't busy but he seemed to struggle keeping up. We sat at the bar for almost 10 minutes with no service. I eventually asked the customer next to me for the drink menu but still could not get Scott's attention. I finally called out to him and his response was he thought someone else was helping me - yet no one else was behind the bar. I ordered a beer for my husband and asked to sample 2 beers - and yep you guessed it he ignored me in getting my order. Finally I saw Mya and she helped. I did let her know that I wanted someone else to help us since Scott was so dismissive, sarcastic, and rude. Khai stepped in and made the whole experience worthwhile - she was friendly, helpful, and kind. I have to say I stopped going to Good City because of the customer service - frankly it's no better now. Honestly I only tipped because I learned the staff shares them and wanted to support the rest...
