Honestly I thought I would have a good experience with this place based off of the pleasant conversation I had on the phone prior to coming in. Had a horrible experience trying to ask about selling or trading in cards here. When I had initially asked they did not explain that they typically look for extremely high value cards( I'm assuming typically only graded cards too based on there selection in cases, all other cards were tossed in some binders on the side), when I initially asked the employee told me they typically look for trades 5$ and above. I gave them a small binder from my collection to take a look at ( I went through this binder with the lowest value be at approx $3 highest at about $30-40), understanding that it was likely they wouldn't take all but maybe 1-5 cards. The guy then hands the binder back to me and just says "thanks , but not interested" , and dismissed me off without giving me an inkling as to why. That as well as the prices are extremely inconsistent. For sets that typically have higher value cards I saw some for over 4-5x times the msrp. Which I'm totally understanding that buying at local shop can cost a little more because they are trying to make some difference back but some of the prices made Amazon/Walmart resellers look cheap. Especially for upcharging that for more recent/in rotation sets as well. In general I thought the vibes would feel a little better here which some of local card shops would feel, as a collector it's hard to walk into places like this without feeling like it's a "boys club". Unfortunately this place gave a bit of those vibes. Some of the employees were nice which I can appreciate that, but over I did really want to like this place but overall had a...
Read moreTLDR: came in with some 50+ base, jungle, fossil, gym hero’s, etc.. and was giving a great price for them, after being lowballed or not given the time by 10+ other shops in Milwaukee, this is the only shop I’ll deal with Pokémon with, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS, honestly I’m a hypercritical person and this place was great start to finish, not a single bad thing to say about them or my experience, 10/10 would recommend
Long version: Growing up playing Pokémon I spent a lot of time in my local card shop making some of my best memories and I soon as I walked into this store I got the same feeling, as if I was a kid again, super welcoming and looks like a actual card shop that’s about the culture and the games and not just trying to sell you something, I recently decided to let go of a large lot of old and very nice cards which was no easy decision, I went to almost every card shop in the Milwaukee area and was continually disappointed, either no one wanted to give me the time or they would just shoot me a random lowball offer and with $3k+ in cards I was trying to sell it became very frustrating but not The Pokeshop, even after causing some excitement among others in the store when I pulled out my collection, they were able to respectfully take care of multiple customers including me, they went above and behind to give me a fair and honest value for my cards, I had done extensive research and knew the values so this almost came to a surprise to me but made the transaction very smooth, will definitely be back and is my new number 1...
Read moreI had a good experience here, not my best but not the worst. The store is clean and very organized though the binders where the single cards are held (or were held if it changes) are damaged and have damaged a few cards that are in them, bending them, though this could be due to being looked at and flipped through for their time. Though I’m not the most fond of this place, there was a kind man that helped me to find some Rayquaza’s that I’d been looking for in the singles binder and when I went to check out, I saw some older packs of Pokémon from sword and shield, and I saw a some packs of evolving skies, so I bought one and opened it back in my car and it was a reseal even though it had no outside indications of it, it was with there being one foil at the middle and a few fake cards that had printed fronts, unfortunately I threw them away as I was a bit mad because I did this on my birthday. Overall take what I say with a hint of salt, but the store is good and has many different Pokémon items for sale, I didn’t speak to the owner or employees much but they did seem nice.
Edit: I will say I was probably asking for it when I bought the evolving skies pack and I don’t believe it’s the store or...
