TLDR - came here to shop and got ripped off by cashier lady. Make sure to check prices or better yet avoid this store!
If I could I would rate this store zero stars. I'm upset, mad, frustrated and even sad about my experience. My brother and I came here to shop for hotpot ingredients and while I was checking out the cashier lady started to manually change the price of the radish I bought so I thought ok that's only one thing. I then noticed she did that for the lotus root as well then the noodles I bought. The radish was less than $1 and the lotus root like $1.67 before she changed the price to $3 each. The two noodles were $1.79 each on the box and she charged it for another $3 and some change. The total should've been $48 at most but I was charged $60 which didn't even make sense. I told her that it wasn't the right price and even checked the prices and she didn't budge at all. At the end of the transaction she purposely didn't give me an itemized receipt so I can come back and dispute it with her. I'm mad she ripped me off and sad that she took advantage of the fact that ppl were behind me so she could rush me out of the store. I'm disappointed that she cheated me out of my money. The fact that I was excited and went out of my way to come to this store and then experience this has me up in arms. I will never come back to this store. I wanted to support them but I will be going to other Asian grocery stores instead. Serve this as a warning for yourself, make sure to pay attention to prices and the cashier person. You may be the next victim! Better yet, don't...
Read moreThis five star review is still 5 stars 2 years later. The store has expanded and is always posting special items on social media so definitely follow them on FB for when they have sales. (Frequent and amazing deals btw) They now carry more Japanese items and specialty Asian spirits like soju and sake. I'm so happy! I moved away and make the 30 minute drive about once a month to stock up.
I could spend a small fortune in this grocery store. There is so much great produce and specialty produce stuff that you won't find in the local area stores. The kimchi they carry is amazing, too.
Lots of choices for soy sauce, miso paste, gochujjang, and other ingredients that I would rather buy here than at the reg grocery store.
Plenty of traditional dried ingredients used for medicine.
I do recommend checking expiration dates. I've picked up a few expired things. Nothing too egregious and it was still usable in my opinion.
The addition of home items has been great. I haven't had much time to browse, but there are lots of things I saw overseas that I haven't seen in a long time. Can't lie, I was so happy I could have cried.
Prices are very fair, considering a lot of the shelf stable items are imported. I can only hope they continue to carry many Japanese items.
Don't expect much help. They run lean and mean staffing wise. If you're not sure what something is, use your smartphone and a translation...
Read moreI recently started cooking different kinds of Asian foods, Chinese, Korean, Thai, etc. As I had very good teachers, they informed me that a lot of items would be very difficult to find. After going to several other Asian markets in my area, no one had half of the items I needed. I had been to the store once before for a difficult item! This time I was absolutely amazed to find the items that I needed, working very difficult to find! Some I couldn’t even find in the Asian market in Orlando Florida. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and more than willing to take the time to make sure you have exactly what you need, before you leave the store! Prices are average to extremely low, compared to any other market in the area. Thank you for welcoming me into your store. I will be there probably every other two days for my...
