Office Depot — Attraction in West Des Moines

Office depot lost a member yesterday. I was desperate for a height adjustable, laptop table, on wheels (pictured). There was only 1 "near me", quite literally. I was so excited when the manager, Stephen, showed it to my wife and I! "Yes, this is perfect, I said, we'll take one." Unfortunately, they didn't have one, aside from the floor model. The manager offered to order one for me, but I had an immediate need, which I explained to the manager and then asked, "is this a hot-selling item?," he laughed and assured me it was not, well then, I continued, maybe an exception can be made in my case, I don't need a receipt, the sale will be final, there is minimal assembly required, you could get a replacement back in and on display in two weeks easily." He shook his head, saying "if I sold it to you, I'd have to sell it to everyone." That was the last word. The manager at Office Depot reminded me, a member, that I'm just another customer, and they don't make exceptions for customers. We're all just customers, so why should we feel obligated to shop locally. It's just business, it's not personal, cuts both ways. I'm going to have Kelly unsubscribe. Absolutely the worst Office Depot and 2 Employees I have ever had the displeasure to be confronted by! I'm not from this area and I just struggled getting very heavy packaged on to a new roller cart plus being a Disabled Veteran just coming from the VA Emergency room for treatment. I walk into the front door and am yelled at from across the Printing counter " DO YOU HAVE LABELS PRINTED FOR THOSE" in front of other customers no less! I responded how I felt, in pain, struggling with NO OFFER OF ASSISTANCE accept DEMANDS YELLED OUT AT ME! Then the employee lady next to the employee guy that yelled out at me says, yeah, and why bring that through there and not all the way around the other direction. And, they both said "we're just trying to help you"! Without lifting a finger and ALL LIP SERVICE!...

I purchased some banker boxes today. I made it all the way home and realized I was charged $16 more for them then what the shelf price said. I immediately called the store and was told that I'd have to bring the receipt in to the store. I explained that i lived a distance from the store and requested a correction by phone to save time and gas. Was told no. Spent $4 of my gas, and 45 minutes of my time to correct what i perceived was a system mistake. Turns out the boxes were mislabeled on the shelf. I was given the lower price, but told no when i asked for compensation for my time and money spent . There are plenty of other places i can get my office supplies. I will not be using office depot again for those supplies...
