Read moreThe Super Nintendo World is definitely a fun experience, and I recommend buying the bands when you enter. The Universal Studios website says you need a separate ticket to enter the Super Nintendo World, but that was not the case. The ticket does grant you early access to the park, but even on a busy weekend I don't think that is necessary.. especially if you are spending more than one day at Universal. The challenges throughout the World are fun and engaging, however they were a bit extra-easy. I know they need to cater to everyone, but they were not hard. However, I have heard (but did not try) that if you do the Bowser Jr. challenge multiple times, that the other challenges get harder.. I have no idea if that is true.
The Bowser Jr. challenge is a lot of fun, and is definitely worth the various lines for the other challenges to gain access. The challenge take a few groups (12 people) and you cooperatively try to defeat Bowser Jr. by jumping and hitting various targets. This alone, is the most exciting thing in the Super Nintendo World, and if you have to choose between this and the Mario Kart ride.. choose this.
We ate at the Toadstool Cafe, which had some good food. When you arrive at the Cafe for your reservation, you will wait in line for awhile (30 minutes for us at 1pm on a Saturday). Pro Tip: if you are here for a few days, scan the QR code the first day and then setup your reservation first thing in the morning the next day (reservations did not open up until about 8:20 am). The food is good, and most of it is in character, but the best part is the atmosphere (especially the "windows"). The service at the cafe was not the best.. our order was missing an entree and the entree was not brought out until about 15 minutes after the others. There are also no refills, and even getting some more water was a challenge. Our party had a little bit of everything, except the salad, and all of the food was good. The desserts are far too sweet.. even our kids were done less than halfway through any of them. I would recommend getting 1 dessert for every 2-3 people just so you can experience the fun desserts. For the price vs. the quality, this is definitely a restaurant that I don't plan on coming back to more than once per visit.
The biggest disappointment for me in the Super Nintendo World is the Mario Kart ride. The line had far more interesting things to look at than the ride itself. As far as this ride goes.. it was my 2nd least favorite at the park, ahead of the Transformers ride. If the line is less than an hour, I would check it out, but don't get your hopes up.
The world is not enclosed, and there is very little shade available. There are also no fans or misters. There is AC inside of the buildings, but nothing outside. With the yellow ground and walls reflecting the sun, it is very hot in this part of the park. I visited in the beginning of October, and the heat was pretty bad. They could have easily provided shade and misters for the lines.. however almost none of the lines have any shade at all. There is also no where to get water other than waiting in line for some bottled water. I felt like Universal was trying to dehydrate me as I drank a measly 16oz bottled water waiting in...
Read moreWe went 6.22.23. Highlights: It is a creative area. Looks cool at night. If you are a mario fanatic you will love it. I guess it was cool to hit the life size yellow question mark boxes
Lowlights When you pay for your entrance into the park, you go to the mario area and you can only ride the mario cart ride (if you are at least 40 in) and take pictures with the cast whenever they do come out...and that's it. You have to buy a $40 wrist band to play the very very very meh simple mario games/tasks in order to collect a key...and when you get 3 keys you get to go into bowsers castle to play a video game that captures the outline of your image/shadow and hit, jump, move your arms to get the items...it was meh I do believe someone will break their wrist hitting the boxes...you have to hit pretty hard
Depending on the employee some took their job serious and would not let you in without the 3 keys...and some didnt. The toad Cafe is booked by 12pm for parties over 1.. it is cool in the inside and the only place to eat in the mario area...there is one stand with chips and drinks (Gatorade $6)
You have to take 4 to 5 longgggg escalators to get to mario land
At peak times they will not allow strollers in the area...at about 7pm they allowed strollers
The line for the ride was 170 mins and then they had a malfunction...so it was longer...the wait time did not decrease at night...it was 200 mins at about 11am...170 at 1pm and at 9pm 170 mins
You cannot use the express passes in the mario land ever...maybe in the future but since it is so popular now ...nope
I asked the employee supervisor can we stand in line with our 2 and 4 yo, my husband ride with my 3 yo as I watch my 2 yo and then I go next as he comes back and she said no...maybe at other rides in the park but mario is a no..it's called parent switch Or whatever...so weird that they don't allow that on all the rides
There are no cooling stations in mario land..and limited shaded area...be creative and find cooling shaded areas
10.ok..these key collecting games are meh..nothing special at all...depending on the employee at times I could and could not help my 2 yo...my 2 yo never won...which is so silly for them to enforce...but there was a time that my 2 yo tried and obviously didn't win and the worker told me to go to the area next to the gift shop where there was a red flag to collect a key
I'm going to give the aestetics of the park a 20 out 10 and the activities that you can do a 2 out of 10.. the ride I didn't experience but my husband did and he liked it...so an 8 out of 10 bc I personally didn't ride it and I know for sure the avatar ride in Florida animal kingdom is a 10/10...he liked the parts where when they were in cold areas it got cold..and rain there was water sprayed on ya...so similar to the avatar experiences I guess.
I definitely think they need to re think what toddlers under 40 in can do there and for people that can't afford the 40 buck watch...maybe if it were 15 or 20...but 40 bucks?...that's absurd
All in all it is overrated with the things you can do...but a cool set design and that's it....I think there should be more gaming opps...since it is a...
