Terrible Customer Support - When I went to them to get a replacement sling for some very expensive furniture, they tried to gouge me and did not do what was best for the customer the full story below.
About 14 years ago I bought a couple outside tables, loveseat and an umbrella at Fruehauf’s spending well over $12K.
On the Loveseat I purchased, two of the fabric slings are failing and I called them to get a cost on what it would take to fix them. The salesman said I could order the fabric from them for $315 and then they would give me the name of a company that would install them for another $130 for a total of $445.
I went to the store to see the fabric samples they had and it was not close to what I currently have. I have six other chairs in the set that are fine and had previously checked the internet and found a fabric from the original fabric manufacturer that was almost an exact match.
Given that, I showed the salesman the swatches on line and reiterated that I wanted to have a good match. I asked the salesman for the contact information of the company that would install the slings and he refused to give me the name, if I did not buy the fabric from him. I walked out saying I would never buy from them again.
I called a well-known competitor and they gave me the name of the company that could fix my loveseat right away. The repair place gave me a quote for $270 to replace the fabric and they have a much wider choice of fabrics including the ones I saw online.
Bottom line is, Fruehauf’s salesperson did not care about what was best for the customer only getting the sale for the replacements. He did not want to give me the name of the repair company until I bought the fabric from him and then find out I could have saved 40% if they just provided the company...
Read moreThis is moderately-priced patio furniture store in Westminster. We’ve shopped there before and it’s easy to spend money at a store like this. The main problem I have with the store is with the staff. We purchased a patio furniture set for thousands of dollars. After a few years, we wanted to upgrade the cushions. We worked with them to find the right cushions to fit our set. We even brought in our current cushions to match the new ones. We ordered to new cushions, another thousand! When they came in, they didn’t fit. It turns out that the company who made the furniture changed their design, which we didn’t know and, apparently, neither did they. We then ordered the right ones and returned the ones that were the wrong size. The person helping us refused to give us back the difference between the cost of the wrong cushions and the right cushions. Moreover, he was rude. He blamed us for not knowing the new models. He even denied that we brought in our old cushions. I carried them in myself! When I called him on his behavior, he was defensive and told me to call his supervisor. I hope she responds better. I’d even understand it if they didn’t credit us the whole amount. It’s not about the money. What was most disappointing was the treatment. A store like this should know how to treat their customers and the management must understand this. If they condone such behavior then you should not go there. I like to support local companies, but, in the internet age, they have to understand that they should treat customers with respect and not be defensive. His behavior demonstrates that they are not taught this fundamental in a...
Read moreIn my opinion they have really nice stuff, they could use employees that could be a little bit more informative!! We recently bought a table there which none of their stuff is cheap it is well made but I would think that we would have been told that if you buy a table there and it's a table that has a whole for an umbrella that they would tell you at the time of your purchase you might want to buy a stand for that umbrella because our tables will only work with our stands. When we had a hard time finding a stand for an umbrella we went back to be told this information. When I ask the salesman why they wouldn't tell a customer that at the time, I took his remark as if he thought I was stupid!!! His response to me was why would we do that why would we make our furniture to fit someone else's things. I feel he didn't answer my question because I wasn't asking him why they only make their stuff work for their stuff I had no idea that their tables were designed to only fit their umbrella stands. It's too bad with the way the world is now but they couldn't be a little bit more informative and care a little bit more for their customers as high as...
