Wilkes University — Attraction in Wilkes-Barre

Probably the biggest waste of money this area has to offer. Almost every professor just reads PowerPoint slides to the class. They screwed me out of 2 credits, so now i dont have a diploma yet, even though i followed their WONDERFUL curriculum guide. The attendance policies are a joke, and if you’re from another country you seem to just have a free ride through the 4 years because I rarely saw any of those kids in class. Nobody ever told me about when my student loan payments would start, or that I had to make an online account to set up autopay, or who the loans were from, or anything about my loans in general.

The food on campus is barely tolerable, your best bet is any places off campus. The parking is atrocious. Having to pay EVERY semester for a parking pass to not even be guaranteed a parking spot is ridiculous. Public safety was a joke while I was there and only seemed to care about giving out those pesky parking tickets.

They would rather spend millions upon millions of dollars to build unnecessary walkways instead of possibly helping improve the quality of education, the parking situation, or quality of life on campus. They could easily have improved systems throughout campus, or provided better internet, since that always seemed to be down every ther day.

However, there were a few good things about this college. SOME of the professors really cared about students, and showed support to them through hard times, as well as giving them a break if they messed up and missed and exam or a project. SOME professors actually knew how to teach and wouldn’t just read a PowerPoint. SOME classes were actually really helpful to a life outside of the classroom, and taught real word skills that people can actually use to better their lives.

Overall, if I could redo my college experience, I would definitely choose either a different college, or go to a trade school. This place is definitely not worth the money they want, and I can understand why their transfer/ dropout rates are where they are. I am so happy and my daughter is ecstatic about transferring to Wilkes you can say it cost more money I know that I don't have it either but I'll tell you what she's going to get the education she didn't get from the other college. She learned it from other people and online and private tutors isn't that what we're paying our college for think about it you could have easily sent your child to the crappy College my child is transferring from then add a year to where her education should be now. Thank God she was smart enough to let us know she wasn't learning what she should and she got out before it was too late I only hope your child tells you. I rather pay the extra money you can have all the glitz you want I'll take Wilkes any day of the week. Education First beautiful campus doesn't even rate in my book. Just for the record it is a beautiful campus it's all over but it's beautiful thank you for spending your money on Education First and your staff and professors are amazing they talk to the students...

Internet is Acceptable ( C+) Reason: it's good for surfing the internet but not good for online gaming or streaming.

Teachers : there are good and bad teachers, the majority is bad and helpless. Especially the chemistry and Nursing departments. ( C - ).
