First time in Wilkes-Barre and was looking for something new to try. I’ve been wanting to try ramen for some time, so I went in not knowing what to expect. I was really blown away with the experience. The restaurant was clean, aesthetically pleasing, and the wait staff was very attentive and even offered a suggestion for my first ramen experience. I got the spicy garlic tonkotsu ramen, and it was absolutely delicious. Very rich and not too spicy. And the chashu pork was probably the best pork I’ve ever had. The portion was huge and more than enough food. I asked for the rest to go and they happily helped me with putting it in a to-go container. If I’m ever in the area again, I will absolutely be returning here! I do not leave business reviews, so the fact I’m even taking the time to leave this says a lot. 10 out of 10, highly recommended! Read more5-Star Review for Shinjiru Ramen – Wilkes-Barre, PA
Shinjiru Ramen is an exciting new addition to Wilkes-Barre’s dining scene, and it absolutely lives up to the hype! We tried the classic tonkotsu ramen and the spicy garlic tonkotsu ramen, and both dishes were nothing short of delightful.
The broth was rich, flavorful, and creamy—reminding us of the authentic ramen we’ve enjoyed in Japan. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the toppings were fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The spicy garlic version had just the right amount of kick without overpowering the deep, savory broth.
For a new spot, Shinjiru Ramen impressed us with its attention to detail and authentic flavors. If you’re craving genuine tonkotsu ramen in the valley, this is the place to go. We’re already looking forward to...

Some of their other menu items have at the very least multiple protein options for a specific dish; I wish the ramen had this option as well. The broth (shoyu ramen) and noodles are some of the best in the area, but this bowl is limited to the chashu pork, and it would be nice for at least one other option like chicken or shrimp. The boiled eggs have an odd sweetness to them that I'm not particularly fond of, but that's a personal taste.
Staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive.
Depending on when you go, you'll likely have to pay for parking, and while it's not much, is something to keep in mind. It is no fault of the restaurant, though, just adding...
