🧗♂️ Wilkrs-Berre Climbing Gym: Where Gravity Takes a Backseat
If you're looking for a place where your kids can defy gravity, burn off every ounce of energy, and leave with forearms like tiny lumberjacks, Wilkes-Berre Climbing Gym is your jam. (Pun intended.)
Chuck—legend, sherpa, and all-around rock whisperer—was incredibly friendly and knew his stuff. He didn’t just point us to the walls; he made sure we felt like seasoned mountaineers, even if our summit was a plastic hold shaped like a dinosaur.
Now, about that one review claiming they'd “belay for you”? Not our experience. We felt supported on every wall the kids tackled—emotionally, physically, and spiritually. The staff was like a pit crew for tiny climbers, cheering them on as they scaled their way to glory and finger fatigue.

This is not the most beginner friendly gym. A lot of these routes do not have grades on them, and some of them really require contortion or dragging yourself along the wall to send. It also has some old school holds which can be hard on the hands.
I think I would have had more fun if I were in practice but I haven't been on a wall in a couple of months.
Still a positive experience, and I'd...
