TLDR-: He broke my screen with a repair I didn't ask for, as it was totally unrelated to why I brought it to him because it "looked new and nicer." See screenshot with his number below.
So I waited and debated posting this, but im still mad about it over a year later.
I contacted A Plus to have my laptop diagnosed and fixed because it was not charging. He stated it was the motherboard and he said that he noticed the screen was damaged in the top right corner. I explained that I had it looked at already and the cost to replace was pricey and the laptop functioned just fine with the bent corner, so I declined to have it fixed. It was purely cosmetic damage.
He did replace the motherboard, and then returned my laptop to me with a new screen. I never asked him for a new screen, wouldn't have approved the repair, and it BROKE my touch screen. The laptop is non-functional if the touch screen is enabled because it has ghost inputs, acting like someone is touching it when its not. It opens and closes pages, scrolls and steals the cursor if you use the track pad or an external mouse, and so your work is instantly closed out and gone if it registers an input in an inconvenient place.
So I had to disable an integral part of my laptop, that wasn't broken when I gave it to him, because he replaced my screen because "it looked new and nicer." The fact i wasn't charged is irrelevant because he BROKE my laptop in a way it wasn't broken, I didnt ask him to fix the corner in the first place, and I havent been able to use my touch screen in over a year. I had to buy a tablet to do the thing my laptop, that I paid for with a touch screen feature, should've been doing because it was cheaper to buy a tablet than to fix the broken touch screen.
I'm still mad about it. After I told him it was broken, he didn't reply and I didn't hear from him again after that. Telling me to simply disable my touch screen to "fix" the random inputs and cursor jumping and selecting things isn't actually a fix when I needed the touch screen to actually work. Its also clearly not an software issue.
Super unprofessional and im still mad about it. I was quoted $450 by another shop to replace/repair the touch screen because the touchscreen was incorrectly installed and needed to be redone, and it was obviously not a software/update issue.
Between the original repair he made and the cost to fix the screen, I couldve brought a brand new model of the same kind.
Absolutely do...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW First of all, I think that it is very unprofessional for anyone to ask for a review and then to sit and write it out for you as you are trying to leave. I wanted to post an updated review, as this has been an on going issue for about a month now, since getting my HP Laptop back. APlus was able to look at my computer after it basically shut off one day and he was responsive and prompt in addressing the issue I was having. However, once he returned my laptop to me, I found out that literally every single item on my computer is now totally different. From the font, to the apps that I need to use, to my storage space, pictures, all my internal settings and display settings... literally everything was changed, without my permission and there's nothing I can do to change any of it back. At the moment, I can't even open, NOR DOWNLOAD THE APP IN ORDER TO OPEN, a PDF for my son's schoolwork. I have had 2 IT engineers look at my computer since then. One of which is a trusted client of my own whom I would have rather had look at the original issue but due to Covid, he was unavailable. This client is the one that set my laptop up for me the day I bought it. And the other is my own brother, a captain in the army who is pursuing a masters degree in this profession. Both of them have told me that this man royally screwed up my computer and that it would be best if I just bought a new one. So yes, thank you so much for "fixing" my laptop.... It does turn on now. However, since I now have to purchase a brand new one anyway, I would like to at the very least warn anyone else to stay away from this company. Absolutely, hands down the most horrible experience in customer service I have ever had. PLEASE DO NOT USE A PLUS COMPUTER REPAIR!!!! IT IS A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!
aplus was able to get me my HP laptop back to me within 24 hrs. it had all kinds of viruses and would not turn on at all. Amazing Service...thank...
Read moreFirst off, let me start by saying that I am not a bot or planted reviewer. I am a regular in Wilmington, with both professional and social reputations to protect, and this review is based on my personal (n=1) experience with A Plus. Like many of you, I read the reviews and had a bit of a struggle deciding if I would let some stranger without a store front or place to chase him down (if I needed to) come and take $100 along with my hard drive that could potentially open me up to identify theft, etc. without promised results. (My specific issue was data retrieval from a broken hard drive.) However, after two good friends (one former retail store help desk employee, and one notable local institution IT manager) both failed to recover my data, I figured I would give A Plus a try. After less than 24 hours from picking my hard drive up from my house, A Plus was dropping me off a thumb drive with the files that I requested be retrieved. As with any of these reviews, everyone has a story, an expectation, and a price in mind. For my needs, A Plus did exactly what was asked.
Now if in the next week or so, they go shopping with all of my account info that they were able to extract from my hard drive, I will come back and change...
