We travelled from San Diego to Vegas to be a vendor at the Grimoire Academy gothic market. The Grimoire people seemed organized but the convention center people treated us- I’d say dismissively and badly. We were considerate and listening to direction of the hosts and lining up as they said to do and given a number and allowed to enter the facility in our truck to unload our stuff, as you normally would, you drive up to your spot, unload all your crap and then drive your car out and leave it outside for the event. It would have taken 15 min to unload. But the facility people told us to park our cars inside and not go to our spaces, even though they had room to control traffic, they made just 7 people park and unload at a point more than a football field away from their spots. It was very frustrating. Instead of dumping everything out at our spot we had to take it out of the truck, load it on a dolly, travel a huge distance away (and my husband has bad knees- which nobody asked before telling us we had to do this- what if someone was disabled? Then get to the spot, unload the dolly and travel all the way back, do it again like 5 times to get all my booth parts and bins and tables and things. I could not believe it. I was one of the first people in line but I believe punished the most as the spots were the furthest away from the door, even though there was a closer door that they would not even hear of us using. Then when the event was over, they made us park even further away because other booths now were there and the booths closer to the door were allowed to pull their vehicles up to their booth and load up! They made my husband park so so far away, despite there being closer available spots that would save us going 100 more feet each way for loading. Loading up, even though I had less stuff because I sold some, I still had all my vendor booth parts and had to pack them, load them and travel with them across this huge expanse. And it didn’t seem like there was a good reason for this except a power trip by the facility people. I suggested all the cars going one way, in this way, out that way just like a NORMAL event, and he said “this is what we are doing” because he just decided it right then and no woman could tell him any type of good ideas. That’s what it legit felt like. So I was still frantically setting up when the event opened and we got in at 8:30 and it opened at 12. I didn’t get to change or anything I was all sweaty and gross. Anyway- when leaving, one of the guys while we were ratcheting down our load, “how much longer are you going to be, we were supposed to be out of here 17 minutes ago” and both me and my husband turned our heads in that slow turn you give people that you cannot believe you just said that. There were plenty of other people still struggling to get loaded, not just us. Especially the far people like us who did NOT get to pull up to their booth. I told my husband “it’s like we were punished for being on time” it was utterly ridiculous. His knees were hurting so bad and he just bore through it for me and my art biz. Anyways, the facility itself was nice. It would have been a great show if that one manager dude wasn’t having a power trip. The place was large and there was a lot of people. I did pretty well on my booth. Sorry I didn’t take any photos of the actual facility. It’s a big concrete room with very high ceilings and just massive amount of space. The last photo kinda shows the ceilings. The cleaning staff was excellent, I saw them going through the crowds...
