After nearly 400 nights at Marriott properties over the past few years, I genuinely never expected to leave a review like this. I recently stayed three nights at the Marriott Las Vegas (Convention Center) and unfortunately, it was the most disappointing experience I’ve had with the brand.
Let’s start with the only real pro: location. If you’re attending an event at the Las Vegas Convention Center, it’s hard to beat the convenience of walking across the street. But convenience can’t make up for what this property lacks—and that list is long.
Internet access was completely down for the entire duration of my stay. I was told it had been an ongoing issue, yet there was no communication before or during check-in to set expectations or offer workarounds. In a business-focused hotel, in a city hosting major conventions, that is unacceptable.
Air conditioning in the rooms doesn’t cool even when set to 65 degrees. Hot water in the evenings? Spotty at best. The elevator’s key card access—intended to enhance security—only worked intermittently, forcing guests to gamble (not in a fun Vegas way) on whether they could get to their rooms without an extra trip to the front desk.
Speaking of the front desk—the customer service was just as frustrating. When I reached out via message about an issue, instead of a helpful response, I was told to come down in person to speak with a manager. It felt like the team was more interested in deflecting than resolving anything. The attitude from several staff members bordered on indifferent, and at times, unprofessional.
There was ongoing construction, which I’m hoping leads to much-needed improvements. But in the meantime, it just adds to the general feeling that this hotel is running on fumes. It’s dated, worn, and clearly operating under strained conditions.
To be fair, housekeeping and the bar staff were friendly and professional—some of the few bright spots of the experience. But that’s not enough to redeem the stay.
I wasn’t traveling alone. My entire team of about 14 people stayed at the property during a major conference, and nearly every one of them had the same complaints. The poor experience was a frequent topic of conversation throughout the week—and not in a good way.
Bottom line: the location alone does not justify the price or the Marriott name. This property needs serious updates—not just to its infrastructure, but to its approach to customer service. I truly hope improvements are on the way, but until they’re complete, I would strongly suggest looking at other Marriott properties...
Read moreI have stayed at this location several times over the years. I've always found the rooms to be clean, the food in the restaurant to be very good, and the staff to all be super friendly and helpful. This last trip was an exception. Though most of the staff was great, there was one particular host at the restaurant that was a terrible employee. On the morning of Friday, February 1, 2024, a colleague and I requested a table around 11:30AM. I mentioned that we weren't sure if we were eating lunch or not and that we might just visit over a cup of coffee. The restaurant was not busy at this time and there were several open tables; however, she advised that she could only seat us if we were going to eat. So I told her that I would be happy to order food if that was necessary to get a table, and I would be happy to pay for the food, though I may not eat the food. She then advised me that she would not seat us unless she knew that we were going to eat the food we ordered. I said, "Are you serious? What concern is it of yours if a guest east some, all, or none of their food? Do you ask that to all of your guests?" She proceeded to tell me that she just wouldn't feel right if we ordered food but didn't eat it, so I told her, "Listen, could I please have a table? I'm going to order a cheeseburger, and I will eat all of my cheeseburger, I will eat every bite. So please, just seat us." She again said she didn't want to seat us because she didn't believe that I was going to eat my food. At this point I began looking around to see if I could find a manager or someone, and I replied, "This is ridiculous. It shouldn't matter if I'm going to eat some or all of my food, but I've told you that I'm going to eat it so please seat us or I need to find a manager." She sat us, we had coffee and visited...and I ordered a cheeseburger which I did eventually eat. I don't recall the name of this host; however, I do know that a few days later I came down for breakfast and sat at the bar to eat. She stood behind me and made comments to the bartender from behind my back as the bartender would look over at me and smirk. Yes, people can tell when they are being talked about. This was a younger blonde, on the shorter side lady who wore a long sleeve jacket a bit on the oversized side. She is very unprofessional and does not represent...
Read moreWe were part of the Western River Expedition group and this Marriott hotel was where the pickup spot would be. We checked in for 2 nights, then checked out to go on our white water rafting trip. Our luggage was stored through the Marriott and when we checked back in for 2 nights, it was seamless. If you are looking for a posh hotel...this is not it...It is what I would call a Comfortable Hotel. Clean and our room was spacious! Everything worked great and the bed/pillows were amazing! This hotel is right across from the convention center and off the Vegas strip. Much quieter than being on the strip. Our room had a great view of The Sphere! Ubers were plentiful so no need to fret about getting where you want to go. There is a monorail that is walking distance from the hotel. We took it from the strip, back to the Marriott as we had been walking a lot that day. Ask front desk about it. Pool was nice, clean, refreshing but not fancy...again this is not a fancy hotel. What is absolutely stellar about this hotel is the STAFF!!!! From checking in..early morning coffee, breakfasts and even a quick evening bite...these employees give it their all. Rose greeted us every morning for our coffee/tea upstairs..always so cheerful. Best way to start your day! AnnaMaria also was a gem..so friendly. The breakfast buffet was delicious..Bacon to die for and the young lady making French Toast was great! Everyone raved about their made to order omelettes. The buffet was the way to go for us..we would have a big breakfast and go see all the sites. Come back and have an early dinner, then a show. (Highly recommend "O" and Sphere!). We decided to grab a few shareable bites one evening as we were too tired to go out. David took great care of us and the wings were so crispy and good! The front desk staff are personable and went beyond in helping each of us. I did have a slight problem with my bill that I noticed 2 weeks after getting home. I called and spoke with Denyse who figured it out for me. They also were doing a renovation at the hotel. We heard nothing...so no worries there. This hotel worked just fine for our group of 7. No complaints...
