Synopsis: It was mediocre food, and there is nothing I'd recommend, and I am not interested in going back.
3 of us just went this evening around 5 pm. First time we'd been there and I searched around results to pick this restaurant that was not a chain restaurant and was rated 4.2 and seemed to have complementary things said about the food. We were out to celebrate my sister's birthday and our anniversary together. The place was completely empty of patrons when we got there. To start with, the entrance is slightly confusing as when you step through the door you have the choice of two dining rooms to step into, there was no place for a greeter to be and everyone but one person cleaning tables was in the back. We weren't sure whether to walk on in or wait for someone to come to us. Probably not confusing if you're picking up food, you'd go through the dining room to the right to the back counter. We were seated quickly (no one was there) and then brought 2 lunch menus (good until 2 pm, it was 5 pm) and two dinner menus, so my husband and I shared one menu. We selected for appetizers the southwest eggrolls and the calamari. Then for the main course 2 lasagnas and a lobster ravioli all of which were supposed to come with salad and bread. It didn't take too long for the appetizers to come out. You get 4 southwest eggrolls cut in half, and a dip that tasted like tzatziki sauce, and a medium-sized plate of calamari with your choice of marinara, tarter, or cocktail sauce. The eggrolls were very brown and very oily, and not much seasoning. The tzatziki sauce was a weird accompaniment. The ends were hard to eat as they were overcooked. The calamari is heavily breaded and chewy. (I have had really good calamari at a nearby restaurant and it doesn't have to be chewy or rubbery.) The cocktail sauce was fine with them. The salads came hot on the heels of the appetizers served with prepackaged dressings. They had one tomato, one cucumber, a few slivers of red onion, and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. We were mostly finished with the appetizers and salads when the entrees were brought. We asked for extra parmesan and were brought a shaker of dry parmesan. (I was expecting freshly grated.) Bread was supposed to come with the meals but we were not given any. I got the lobster ravioli and all I can say is don't order it. The pasta was past al dente but it wasn't totally squishy. The inside was mush though. It had no taste of lobster and was just kind of greyish when I opened it up. I didn't see even a speck of meat in there. The sauce was a very basic marinara sauce that was a bit watery. When I ate one of the ravioli from the center of the plate it was burning hot so I suspect it was microwaved too. My husband and sister got the lasagna. I had a couple of bites and while the lasagna noodles were fine, the meat had little to no seasoning and if there was ricotta in there, there was little enough to not be noticeable. Again the sauce was a bit watery. We were checked on once by the server. When we were done eating we sat there for a while and then I stood up to try and get the attention of someone in the back, eventually our server came back and asked if we needed a box and if it was all on one check. We were not offered dessert but by that time we wouldn't have wanted it anyway. He came back pretty quickly with the box and check, but then disappeared again for quite a while as we sat and waited. During that time my husband also noted there was a board in the back with daily specials on it. We were not told anything about any specials. The server did apologize for the wait when he got back saying he was doing something. But another person could have come and picked it up as most of them were just standing around chatting in the back and there was only one other couple in there. Overall a very mediocre experience, not something special for our celebratory meal. Not good enough food for the $75 (only drank water) we spent. After waiting around to be allowed to pay we were...
Read moreI have been a lunch delivery customer of The Italian Touch on N. Loudoun for quite some time. I ususally get a variation of salad and a diet drink or water. Yesterday, I ordered a Caesar Salad with no onions, extra chicken, Caesar dressing, and a Diet Coke. The order was taken correctly by Marley, a very pleasant young lady. It was delivered just after a customer arrived 30 minutes early for a meeting (11:30 instead of 12:00), so I did not open the bag to eat my lunch until close to 2:00 PM. When I did, I realized that I had received the wrong salad, as this salad contained onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, and certainly did not have the extra chicken I had ordered (which cost an extra $2.50), despite my receipt and the order matching what I had initially ordered with Marley. It did have Caesar dressing. Whoever filled the order made a mistake. As I was hungry and had tons more work to do in the office before closing, I saved the receipt and the delivery order, ticket #7, so that when I called them with today's order, they could make a adjustment on my bill. In my opinion, taking off the extra chicken charge of today's order would have been appropriate. Marley was very nice, as always, but when she asked her manager if this adjustment could be made, he told her that I should have returned the wrong order, yesterday, so they could correct it then. He did not speak with me, to ascertain who I was or to confirm any of the circumstances. Rather, he had Marley deliver his decision over the phone, citing it as policy! She was apologetic to do so, as she knew I was a good customer. So, in the manager's opinion, I should have opened the lunch bag in front of the delivery man and a waiting customer in my office? Who does that? It would be rude to do so. Instead, I moved the bag out of her way, to dine later. Yet, ultimately, no adjustment would be made on today's order. I couldn't believe it, when I have been a repeat delivery customer for months, 2-3 days per week! I even tip the delivery people, as the $1.50 delivery charge does NOT go to the drivers. Why would I lie about $2.50? As a long term, returning customer, my word meant nothing, and I was highly offended. Whatever happened to the customer always being right? So, instead of crediting $2.50 to today's order, the restaurant will lose $10.32 -- $13.14 per day, at 2-3 days in a week, or between $1,073.28 and $2,049.84 a year!! Plus, this poor review. Good call,...
Read moreCame here a few months ago and the place wasnt busy but they were understaffed and seemed to have a large party in the room next door. The waiter apologized numerous times for our wait but we understood and actually had a nice time. Food was very good. Tonight was a different story. We walked in and there were 3 other people there. We were told to sit anywhere so we sat in a booth and waited...and waited...and waited. Saw a waitress give a bill to one party and then walk into the back room never to be seen again. The initial person who told us to sit anywhere would glance in our direction every now and then but never do or say anything until he walked out the front door and told us our server would be right with us. Yeah ok. We got up and left shortly after because we had been there for 15 minutes and didnt want to keep waiting. Its a shame because we liked the food last time but if the staff is not concerned that you exist why run a restaurant. There were about 4 (that i could see) other people in the backroom just standing around. Feels like everyone working just wanted to be in the backroom and not deal with any customers. Not sure how they are staying open with that kind of mentality. Not even Gordon Ramsay could...
