This place is completely unprofessional, inconsiderate and lack comprehension. My niece is on the spectrum and before signing up, my sister called and made them aware of my niece being on the spectrum, they assured her they were equipped to deal with my niece’s needs. However, on the very first day of her classes, it was evident that was far from the truth. My sister made sure to remind the instructor that my niece was nonverbal and on the spectrum and she said it wasn’t a problem. But then she got extremely annoyed with my niece when she didn’t listen the first time to sit down, my sister went to sit with her and do the exercises but the frustration from the instructor were unbearable that my sister had no choice but to go speak with the owner. The owner, Sara, was just as apathetic as the instructor, stating they had no experience with kids on the spectrum and it must have been the “new girl” who gave her the false information when she had called. She refused to acknowledge the level of un-professionalism from the instructor, placing the blame solely on my niece for not listening. And when my sister asked for a refund, Sara’s “solution” to the situation was for my sister to find “another little friend on the spectrum and we’ll provide a private lesson.” One thing is not having the experience to deal with children on the spectrum, another is to lie and place blame on the child when you as an adult don’t even try to understand the situation or make it better for the client. Horrible experience with an ignorant owner and workers....
Read moreAcross The Floor is more than a dance and gymnastics studio. It is a place for children to grow physically, emotionally and realize their potential. Each and every student gets individualized attention from the highly qualified and professional instructors, which is difficult to find in other studios in the area. Our family travels 20 minutes to Across The Floor because of the amazing and talented teachers. We have had experiences at other studios, and nothing compares to the dance education, encouragement, and support you will receive from the staff. ATF encourages students to live a healthy lifestyle and you see daily by the example the instructors set that well-adjusted, healthy mind and body are a priority. I highly recommend ATF to anyone looking for a studio. Their adult program is also a big draw as you have the opportunity to exercise while your children are in class. This has helped many of us to get in shape and to model healthy habits for our children. Visit the studio and you will see the family atmosphere as well as top notch dance education...
Read moreThis place and its staff were highly unprofessional, uninformed, and lacking compassion or patience with my 4 year old niece, who is on the spectrum. At the initial sign up they reassured my sister that they were experienced with children on the spectrum and that this would be a great opportunity. That turned out to be completely false.
The instructor actually called out my niece in front of other parents for not following directions and said that if she couldn’t follow the directions, she couldn’t stay in the class. Instead of showing understanding they were quick to dismiss her for something as simple as not “sitting down.”
To make matters worse, they did not offer any type of compensation or support to my sister after this upsetting experience.
This place simply sucks. Do...
