In short for those quickly browsing reviews:
WCV is a solid place to live, with great staff, in a great location, that upkeep the property pretty dang well. You also have some neat amenities -- However, due to the fact it's market rate, and these are already expensive apartments, make sure you can afford living here, and be financially ready for rates to change. This is a place for well off, or wealthy people to be living, unless you're very lucky.
In detail for those who want to know more with their reviews:
I could write a full essay about how negative my time was working here, and for Weidner, but I've done that where it's appropriate to; this is about living at WCV as a resident:
The location is very centralized, and most things are a hop, skip, and jump away. The grounds are maintained very well, and the interior housekeeping is excellent. Maintenance does the best with what they have, and from a resident only perspective, does things excellently and professionally. The leasing agents are all very good at what they do: Laiha in particular makes the office a very welcoming environment, and I personally believe she'll go far in the Housing industry.
There are some issues that remain unfixed but those are generally due to issues/disputes most residents wouldn't be proprietary to - if something is taking a long time to do, keep in mind there's probably a behind the scenes reason which can only truly be answered with "Well, here we are. At this point, I'm sorry".
Affordability is a different point, which is why I took one star off of this review. You will see many other reviews say the same thing, as well as former residents: WCV is relatively affordable if you are a couple, have a good roomate situation, or are generally wealthy. They even have good move in specials. However, since these are market rate apartments, when it comes time to renew, you are likely to see an increase of +$150 a month at minimum (I'm Maintenance not leasing, so that's a rough estimate just from my time in the industry). Personally, I could barely afford living here even as an employee fortunate enough to have gotten a discount. Once my time working at WCV came to a close especially with my discount gone, $1950 a month as a single person with two cats (one in particular beginning to need medical care) became nigh unlivable (especially for under 1,000 SQ. FT in a nearly studio sized 1 Bed/Bath) until I got my new position at my current company, and moved on site to a five bedroom/three bathroom where I now work in a much better living situation. This cat passed away shortly after my move, but even if I hadn't been paying for her care, it still would have been a rough ride. I pretty much was only able to pay rent by digging into my IRA early, my phone, and the electric bill. I had no other amenities I could afford.
The events the community hosts are cool, and are a great way to get out, especially if you're a very social person (I'm not), and really bring everything together.
Make sure your apartment is immaculate when you move out. Being partially responsible for move outs and charging for them myself, I was upset when I received my move out statement. One, maybe two walls, some small pin hole patches, trim touch up, and a clean don't cost nearly what I was charged, but I didn't want to dispute the point - after a while, you just give up.
If you can afford to live here, you won't regret it: You truly are living in a community where all of the staff care. I wouldn't live at WCV again for many personal reasons, but from an outside standpoint, this is one of the best places to be in Woodinville.
I wish most of the staff there the best of luck with all of their endeavors, both current and future. The majority were great people to work with, and are great people who have made WCV what...
Read moreLet me start this review by stating I lived at WCV on two instances for a total of four years. However, it wasn’t without challenges.
Pros: Great location. Within walking distance of many great wine rooms, restaurants and general needs (grocery, gas, freeways, etc.). Fab the activities director was amazing! There was always something fun and exciting to experience - wine tastings, trivia, sip & paint and block parties. I loved the lay out and design of my Townhouse. Moreover, unlike most apartments I hardly ever heard my neighbors.
Cons: Receiving packages was horrible! Anytime I had a delivery it didn’t matter if it was Amazon, UPS, FedEx or Door Dash, deliveries were left in hallways, outside on the ground/public sidewalk, near elevators and/or entirely different buildings. The parking garage was okay for the first month, but as soon as others began moving into the building and retail came in it became ridiculous. I started out paying $80/month for a reserved and secured spot, but it was neither of those things and was ultimately raised to $100/month. The gate was often broken and if I left on a weekend to go anywhere I could almost guarantee someone would be parked in my spot when I returned. Moreover, they didn’t start to monitor who was parking where until the last month I was there. As such, many residents parked for free merely by parking in a retail spot. Construction workers and maintenance were often extremely inconsiderate. While my building was supposed to be complete when I moved in there were still ongoing construction workers tromping across my roof on any given day while I tried to conduct meetings and worked from home. They even managed to drop a piece of 2x4 wood that was almost 4 feet long from the roof down onto my patio. When I reached out to the leasing office to ask if someone could retrieve the item, I was told “feel free to take it back to any of the construction areas and leave it.” NO HEAT for 5 DAYS - they were working on issues with the HVAC and broke our entire building. I finally had to call the NW area office to complain to even get a response/action. The first day, I called the leasing office they said they would look into it and give me a call back, yet no one did. I called again 24 hours later only to be told, “yes, we are aware and the vendor company is coming out today. We’ll send a notification to everyone in the building.” That did not come until the 3rd day and not until I reached out to corporate. Their solution was to provide space heaters! High turn over in the leasing office often resulted in a lack of action or miscommunication. On multiple instances we were told an event or action (window cleaning, fire drills, move-in/move-out) would occur on a specific date. So we would make arrangements to work from another location only to get home to nothing having been done. Move-in/out was also very unorganized. I had someone schedule my walk through weeks before I was to leave. When I tried to reschedule it was set for a day of a block party and a date the office was normally closed. I called to confirm & was assured someone would be out - of course, they never showed. So it rescheduled a 3rd time before actually being completed. Thrash rooms were disgusting! There were approximately 3 buildings using the same trash room/chutes so it was constantly full of garbage/junk. Moreover people often left food/trash, boxes and home goods near the trash shoot not down it, so others ultimately couldn’t even get into the trash room.
Bottom line, they grew too quickly and didn’t accommodate via staff or infrastructure. Moreover, rent was raised $100 each instance I renewed, but I never saw improvements to any of the issues...
Read moreIf I could give this company zero stars, I would. I started with Weidner back in 2021 and have been put through so much since. My experience in Colorado was decent since I had a good supervisor at Grand View Apartments. However, it took a drastic turn when I moved to Washington State, where the home office is located. I was immediately told by Melanie White that I already did not make a good impression, and it looks like below in these reviews, somebody else had an issue with her as well. They will not take care of this situation and they allow Melanie to talk to whoever she wants, however she wants. She should not be allowed to work with tenants or other workers. Then I rented a unit at Woodin Creek Village where it took them five months to fix my AC unit, as my husband needs air circulation for health reasons, and Brad Weurer's response was "why don't you just open the windows?" Then they made us move to another unit because my dogs were barking due to a neighbor's dogs barking, which was also the lady in Weidner HR, Nikole. Of course they won't make the HR lady move, so they forced me to transfer to another unit and did not cover any of the costs to move. Then in November of 2024, I pointed out taxes that the company owes and they began to corner me, excluding me from emails with the team where they said to just keep doing it the same way, which was creating negligence. It is my duty as an accountant to report negligence. I did and I had to seek new employment and housing. Then, when I moved out, out of spite they are charging me $8,500 for move out charges. This is excessive to which the RA Specialist said are "in line with my lease agreement." They have no proof of the carpet being damaged because of my dogs, as the carpet was there before I got in that unit. This whole company is fueled by evil and if you are not part of the internal cliques and do not conform to their communist views, you will be cornered, talked about, excluded, and discriminated against. They also sent an email to the entire company asking us to vote NO on tenant rights. I have worked onsite where I had to wear a hazmat suit to clean out an apartment they wouldn't pay a company to clean out. The apartment was infested with mice, cockroaches, mold, and other awful things that Weidner turns a blind eye to. I have seen the cruel and unusual treatment of tenants and co-workers first-hand and there are sooooo many reviews about this and this company is still running. THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN. I now am seeking medical attention due to the mental and emotional toll it has taken on me. My daily functions are impacted because they overwork their people, saying that 40 properties with a total of 6,000 units are manageable and if you do not do the tasks they ask of you on top of the hefty load you are already managing, you risk not getting a raise and having to compete with people who can't even put a simple formula in excel as accountants. The bonuses decreased every year that I was there, while the lead accountant paid THOUSANDS of dollars to outsourced data entry companies but wouldn't pay their current employees near market wages. I am in a similar position now making far more than they paid me at Weidner. READ ALL REVIEWS ABOUT WEIDNER BEFORE LIVING AND WORKING AT THIS...
