I started coming here during the pandemic in order to spend time with my mom and grandma outside. It's close to my grandma's house, and since she doesn't get around very well anymore, Wilmot Gateway Park is an ideal location for us, with several disabled parking spots and a handfull of benches and picnic tables that are easily accessible from the parking lot.
All the tables are under a roof, and there are tall deciduous trees nearby that create incredibly pleasant shade in the dry season and moderate shelter from rain at other times. There's a big lawn that goes all the way to the slough, and there are always people walking their dogs and riding their bikes on the trail. The last time I went (April '23) there were a few Canada geese looking out for a gaggle of fluffy little goslings on the bank of the slough. It really is a very nice place.
They recently (between fall '22 and spring '23) refinished (or maybe replaced) the wood on all the tables and benches here, so its much more pleasant to use them, but I still bring a tablecloth when I eat there. I've never used the restroom, but my mom has a couple times without seeming apprehensive about it, so I assume there's nothing wrong with it.
The only thing I can think of right now that's not so great is that the parking lot really is pretty small (like maybe 15 spots total...?), but there's a bigger lot across the street, next to the sports fields, which has plenty of spaces available when there's nothing happening over there, so if I have to I can usually drop off my mom and grandma at the park, then go find a place for the car...
Read moreWilmot Gateway Park in Woodenville is a gem for families! It is one of our favorite local parks. The playground is well-designed and has something for every age group—from toddler-friendly slides to more adventurous climbing structures for older kids. My little one especially loved the swing, and I appreciated the soft, rubberized ground that made me feel more at ease as they ran around. There are plenty of shaded picnic tables and grassy spots. The restrooms were clean (huge plus!), and the park connects to the Sammamish River Trail, which gave us the chance to take a little walk after playtime. Parking was a bit limited right by the park, but we found plenty of space across the street at the sports fields. It’s such a peaceful, well-maintained space that feels tucked away yet still central. If you’re a parent looking for a safe, fun, and relaxing spot to take your kids, Wilmot Gateway Park is definitely...
Read moreThere for a concert a week ago and it was wonderful the way they could manage large number of people and everybody was very peaceful and just enjoying the music and having fun with a few drinks of beer or wine. Very well organized and the only criticism I would make is they need to add more food trucks because so many people had to wait in line for so long and while it probably didn't make a difference when you were listening to an open group it does seem strange that people would have to take so much time out of their leisure Time to stand in line for food they probably could have cooked at home and I'm not trying to be funny I just mean if the food you need it's great to go but then bring it on bring more of it on. So many people do love to eat out but they don't like to wait for a long time to be served no matter how good...
