First time visit and I dont desire to shop at any other regular grocery store anymore!!!! I stood everywhere for at least 5mins just browsing(laughing to myself). I was in everyone's way, in awe and apologetic, I couldn't help but notice the variety and trust the store withheld. This store is clean and has the friendliest staff. Talk about a place of wonder inside a magical closet like space. This is my new favorite grocery store and I put this store above Whole Foods and Fresh Thyme!! Everything is organic, fresh, and my favorite part, LOCAL!!!! Who can ask for anything better? The fresh apples looks like it's been picked from the tree and driven straight to the store. Even the pet food looks delicious, that's how awesome this store is. The bread is baked fresh three times a week. They even accept SNAP EBT and have a conjoining program that allows you to get your produce dollar for dollar on another card and you can use it to purchase fresh produce without the EBT card, here and at Ypsilanti Farmers Market. This store is great for vegans, vegetarians, anyone transitioning, or anyone on a regular meat eating diet that enjoys the finest quality. By far, a great experience when looking for the best food for your health and it actually...
Read moreI loved this place when I started shopping for my own food as a teenager. The last time I regularly shopped here was pre-COVID. My past two experiences here have been awful. I mostly go here for the good herb selection (by the pound). However, the new staff is less helpful and honestly off putting, so I hesitate to enter the store or engage with the staff more often than not. I’ve asked for help getting items the bulk department because they don’t clean their dispensers (and therefore, items are more difficult to retrieve than they should be), and the same new girl that runs the register told me twice that she “couldn’t help me” even though a nice older lady literally removed the top of the bulk container to allow me to scoop product out. Their prices are rather high compared to other “health food” stores (now their brown rice syrup is $11 when I got it for $7 before). Nice food and bulk selection. The staff’s mannerisms could use a lot of work, especially the new girl that runs the register. I really miss the old co-op ambiance and friendliness and wish the staff were more helpful, welcoming, and stopped telling me they couldn’t do anything to help when all they have to do is take a lid off a container they...
Read moreBy far the most excellent small grocery store in Southeast Michigan. YFC has an extensive stock for its size -- I am able to do 95% of my regular shopping here. Many complain that organic food is "too expensive," but I started shopping here as a single mom precisely because the bulk food offerings are SO extensive and SO cheap. They have everything from flour to herbs to pasta to popcorn to beans to honey, baking soda, salt, bouillon, & granola -- ALL in bulk. If you shop the bulk aisle and fresh produce, YFC can be very economical. You can also bring your own containers and thus lessen plastic waste. YFC also has an exceptional in-house bakery -- in addition to yummy bread, scones, sweets & baked goods, they also usually have pie crusts & frozen bread dough. Lastly, YFC has the best deal anywhere on hot, organic, fair trade coffee to go -- very low price per cup compared to other...
