A Must-Try Culinary Adventure: Vegan Food Walk in Saigon Embarking on the Vegan Food Walk in Saigon was an experience I'll never forget and is an absolute must-try for anyone visiting the city. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely friendly, making the entire tour feel like a casual outing with a local friend rather than a structured event.
Over three hours, we were introduced to an array of unique vegan dishes that you wouldn't find on your own. From BBQ Seitan noodles that were perfectly spiced to an exquisite Vietnamese-Indian curry and the sweet delights of Mekong steamed banana cakes, every tasting was a discovery. The carrot cake without a carrot and the exotic fruit tasting were particularly memorable, offering unique flavors that were new to me.
What set this tour apart was not just the food but the captivating stories and history shared by our guide, presented in an engaging and light-hearted manner that captured the essence of Saigon from a local's perspective. We also explored places that most tourists never see, like a war-era apartment complex and a bustling local market tucked away in the city's maze of alleys. Adding to the value, the tour included a comprehensive Vegan Food Guide in Vietnam, which was a godsend for the rest of our trip. It was filled with recommendations and tips that saved us both time and effort in finding great vegan options.
The tour was about good food and connecting, sharing, and discovering the unseen facets of Saigon. Our hosts' engagement and authenticity made this food walk a relaxed and incredibly enjoyable experience. I left with a full stomach and a deeper appreciation of the city's vegan scene and cultural backdrop. If you're in Saigon and looking to explore its vegan culinary landscape, do yourself a favour and join this tour. You'll come away with great food, new friends, and an authentic taste...
Read moreOne of my friends makes it a point to go on a food tour in every city that she visits, and for this visit to Ho Chi Minh City, I decided to go on my first food tour with Spring. What an awesome first experience! We had a small group, and the people were lovely. As a solo traveler, it’s always a little nerve wracking for me to do things by myself, but Spring and Hieu were great hosts, so I had nothing to worry about. I loved doing the walking food tour because we got a chance to see the city and have a bit of time to digest between meals. I thought it would be a bit difficult to get full because we’d have small portions or whatever, but that’s definitely not the case. Despite all the walking I left happy and satisfied. My only regret is not doing it sooner in my trip so I could try out more of Spring’s suggestions.
P.S. When you book the tour, you get Spring’s guide to vegan spots across Vietnam. This is worth the price of admission in itself!! I’ve been visiting loads of suggestions from her guide, first in Hanoi, and...
Read moreVegan or not, you need to book this tour! This tour was the highlight of our two weeks in Vietnam and we did it our very first night in country. It's a great introduction to Vietnamese vegan cuisine (accidentally vegan street food, regional specialties, and what's best to to order in restaurants) as well as Vietnamese culture and history! My partner and I had a one-on-one tour with Hiếu and absolutely loved him- what an incredibly sweet and friendly guy. He truly is committed to giving you a great one of a kind experience. Not to mention, all of the food and drinks we tried were absolutely incredible!! We loved the conversations with Hiếu and all of the owners, plus getting the chance to explore off the beaten path and learn about Saigon from a local. Hiếu went above and beyond and even shared some tips and tricks as well as a complete rundown of where and what we ate afterwards too! I cannot recommend this tour enough and would hands-down...
