Very nice entrance and sitting area. In warm weather you can use the patio. Our room was small but clean. No chairs in the room and no place to put your clothes on when you go to bed. There is a safe box and you have to ask for a key. Lots of rules and most can not be followed, because: - You are not allowed to hang your clothes to dry (it was raining constantly) on the room heater and must use the non existent cloth wire. - You can't bring any food to your room, but the restaurant was open only for breakfast, very basic, with cold fried eggs. - There is a washing machine but no dryer. Bathroom is OK with good lighting, but impossible to wash your face because the sink is about 10" round with huge faucet right in the middle. At the best you can wash one cheek at a time... Nice addition was the hand shower for your hygiene, very useful. The hotelnis close to the main avenue with walking distance to shops and restaurants. I think the best time to visited Calafate is October and later.

The hotel staff are extremely unfriendly and rude. They also follow illegal practices and use the dollar MEP conversion when charging prices. This is an excuse to charge foreigners more pesos than locals. When called out, they suggested charging the Argentinian one price and the foreigner another for the exact same room (two people sharing one room). The woman at the desk was rude throughout and explained that the practice is indeed illegal but they can refuse to offer service to anyone who doesn’t approve. We promptly left for another hotel down the road where the service was exceptional and the staff do not try to scam you.

The place is beautiful and appealing. We understand that nowadays everything is supposed to be expensive in this country but still, a business should act with integrity and not take any guest for granted in the area. We didn’t stay at the hotel but wanted to share our disappointing experience at the restaurant side. With such a long wait, only to receive the tiniest steak you’ve ever seen (for 30$ a a steak) and the most unappetizing looking pizza. Absolutely not flexible with how we want to pair the menu with sides. We hope the management can really take customer feedback to heart as it is such a shame to be operated this way.

I would strongly recommend against visiting. I ate here three nights ago. The lamb mains we ordered were still cold/frozen in the middle despite being apparently pre-cooked through. When we sent it back the same plates came back having been microwaved or heated in some way. We decided it wasn't a good place to eat and offered to pay for everything except the mains (which we hadn't eaten). When we said we shouldn't pay for the uneaten small side salad they called the police.. in about 2 minutes of this discussion starting. The chef/owner stood in front of the main door until the police arrived stopping us from leaving. We wanted the situation to end so paid for everything including the salad except the mains. They still made us wait until the police arrived. Once the police arrived we had to deal with the situation of the owner/chef throwing accusations at us (we don't know what they were as only speak basic Spanish). They then decided they wanted us to pay for one of the (uneaten) mains. After broken discussions with them and the police we decided to pay to end the situation out of fear of it escalating and the police feeling the need to arrest us. The policeman seemed to think the situation was ridiculous - holding his head in his hands. I know the story sounds ridiculous but we were polite and calm at all times. It's unbelievable how quickly they called the police. The manager was extremely rude and aggressive. The whole experience very demoralising. Completely over the top. Just not a place anybody should visit if they want good food or a good experience. There's no point you should be served food that is potentially unhealthy then aggressively made to pay for it. I don't normally write reviews. But I really feel the need to warn people...
