Beautiful views, outdated apartment for its price, disappointing caretakers. I know this will come across judgemental, but I'm going to call it as I saw it. We we're greeted by the classic "Karen", type and her side kick "old mate". Our first impression was about getting in line as guests with their expectations. After checking in, we were driven up the steep hill to our room. Old mate was keen to brag about how he recently threw out guests for having glass around the pool and warned us that it would also be our fate if we we're to break such rules.. I immediately caught the vibe and knew we would have to be on our best behaviour while staying at The Pinnacles.
There was no other interaction from them for the following 4 days we stayed, not even a friendly "good morning". However there were two beers left in the fridge and some snacks on arrival which I'll pay credit to.
On check out, we were running a little behind, and at 10:30am received a visit from old mate who didnt knock, but just opens the door, barging into the hotel room telling my partner who was getting ready (luckily already clothed), that we were late, and that check in was at 10am and he would come back soon to make sure we were out.. Unfortunately I was showering at the time, and wasn't aware he barged in unannounced until we had left the hotel, a situation I would have confronted much differently.
I am writing this review to warn other guests of the type of behaviour to expect here from The Pinnacles caretakers. I have read the reviews and also the replies to the reviews, and will expect the same face saving response. While there is potential here to create a friendly and welcoming experience for your guests, your approach and energy requires you to clean...

This has to be experienced. The best accommodation we ever had to joy to be in. If, or when we return to Airlie Beach, we would not stay anywhere else.
Also, the location is just a 12 minute walk to the nearest cafes and bars
Thank you, Paul and Fran, for your 5 star...
Read moreWe had the most amazing stay at Pinnacles Resort for our honeymoon in March. The service was fantastic, the view was beyond incredible, and for the price, you get SO much more space in the apartment than you would in one of the resorts or hotels closer to the water. We stayed for 9 nights and couldn't fault the experience. Spending time in Airlie Beach at the tail end of wet season, we did have some rain, but the spaciousness and comfort of the apartment meant we never felt closed in or claustrophobic when staying indoors. We met people on our travels that were staying at Hamilton Island, but we definitely preferred Airlie Beach for having considerably more options for food, entertainment, and activities, and Airlie was also the perfect base for plenty of tours departing from the marinas.
The proximity to the main street was perfect as well - walkable and close without being right in town. Yes, the road up to reception is steep, and the route to your room is even steeper. But taxis are easily obtained from anywhere, many tours and large venues offer courtesy buses, and if you are of average fitness and without an injury, you won't find the hike too much of an issue - it even becomes pretty satisfying to say how many times you climbed it over the course of your stay! I have a chronic illness and still managed it multiple times.
Thank you so much to Pinnacles Resort for being the perfect base for our jam-packed honeymoon. We loved our stay and will definitely...
