After a long day of travelling and getting into Airlie Beach, we were starving and needed some food ASAP! We went to Anchor Bar due to the high reviews on Google and endured a bit of exercise going up the steep hill to get to the restaurant.
It is a bar located inside a hotel and is situated beside their hotel pool and hot tub. You do get pretty views but we were too tired to fully enjoy them. Nice regardless!
Most of the large tables were filled with groups of people but we managed to find a table for 5 of us inside. We ordered the āCanāt decide platterā and it came out in about 20min. Everything on there was actually so good!!
Loved the chicken wings, the arancini balls, the garlic sauced mussels, the ribs, and the sweet potato fries! Generous portions for the price. Everything was flavourful!
My sister got the halloumi burger on top of the platter and it filled us all up!
My parents donāt eat a lot usually but they were pigging out on every item on the platter because it was so tasty.
Thanks for a lovely experience! Would recommend ordering the platter for a group to try out bits and pieces of the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came out with a business partner for lunch on Sunday 10th of March. Firstly the wonderful people behind the bar were super friendly, professional, and attentive. Secondly, there was a fantastic musician playing live music, Chris Boroff, from memory. But the standout was the superstar host/ hostess/manager, Brie. So friendly and accommodating. Just busting at the seems, checking on and chatting to every table. From someone who has managed restaurants, spent many years as a food and beverage manager, in many venues in many countries, Its not often I feel compelled to write a review, but without a doubt, this one is warranted. Great Staff, Good food, great music, friendly atmosphere, and the young lady manager " Brie" really deserves more credit than I can give for such an outstanding energetic customer oriented work ethic! She really made our day, and she deserves a pay raise. Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām surprised this place is so highly rated, as our experience was poor. Firstly, it was hard to find from the street. When we finally found it, we were seated at a table which faced the venetian blind-covered window of the hotel lobby, rather than the lovely view over Airlie beach village. The banquette seats were uncomfortable ā way too high for the table. The food took an entire hour before it arrived, and the restaurant wasnāt even busy; only about a third of the tables were occupied. The only saving grace of this place was that the food was good, especially the pork belly and the calamari. This place needs a lot of work to reach basic standards of an enjoyable dining experience. I would not...
