Don't waste your money.
Honestly, there's nothing worse than feeling the need to write a negative review about a restaurant, but when the recommendations, reviews and actual experience are worlds apart, it's important to share.
Firstly, the main reason for writing this review is because when we were asked at the end of the meal "was everything good?" we had to be honest and say "no, it wasnt". When we were asked to explain in more detail, which we did, the response was "sorry" and then a gesture to add tip before paying. Nothing else.
So, here we go....
We did not have the tasting menu.
We ordered direct from the menu:
Starters: Prosciutto e Melone / Melon wrapped in cured ham - the crazy thing is, it comes dripping in balsamic vinegar which completely overrides any opportunity to appreciate the meat or the fruit, and the natural way that the salt and sweet of the ingredients interact. So, that was a shame.
Mains: Prawn Ravioli / pasta parcels of prawn - such a shame. The pasta texture was decent, but the prawns felt like they still had parts of their shell on. But once you got past the chewy texture, there really was no flavour. The sauce was bland. It was just really flat. Such a disappointing experience given the reviews and recommendations.
Salmon Tartare/ avocado and raw salmon chunks mixed with a sauce - the biggest disappointment. Fresh and raw. Thats what tartare should be, but it was all drenched in some kind of bland sauce that prevents you from getting any sense of freshness from the ingredients. Sashimi is the ultimate raw salmon experience and this is far from it. Also, the avocado was mushy. The capers just didn't do anything to help the flavor experience, they just remind you that everything else tastes of nothing.
Service was OK, the Spanish speaking waitress was very engaged in a positive way, but when starters were finished, and the plates had not been cleared, and the mains arrived, they did not change the side plates that were covered in balsamic vinegar from the starter.
Finally, if you ask for honest feedback, be ready to meet the feedback with something constructive, not the PDQ machine with a number on it, not even a copy of the bill.
Definitely a lot of room for...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Belvedere Restaurant and I must say, it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality.
Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The chef at the Belvedere truly knows how to create culinary masterpieces that leaves a lasting impression.
One of the highlights of my evening was the live piano music that filled the air. The soothing melodies added an elegant touch to the dining experience and created a relaxing ambiance. It was a delightful accompaniment to the delicious food and made the evening even more memorable.
But perhaps the most breathtaking aspect of the Belvedere is its amazing views on sunset. As the sun began to set, the restaurant transformed into a mesmerising spectacle of colors. The panoramic views of the sunset over the town skyline were simply awe-inspiring. It was a truly magical sight that added an extra layer of enchantment to the evening.
Last but certainly not least, I must commend the wait staff for their exceptional service. They were attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with any requests. The wait staff at the Belvedere truly went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect.
Overall, my experience at the Belvedere Restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary. The great taste of the food, the live piano music, the amazing views on sunset, and the impeccable service from the wait staff all combined to create a truly unforgettable evening. I highly recommend the Belvedere to anyone looking for a memorable...
Read moreThere were two of us & the bill was $600
The way the which the menu & wine list is written, be aware. We thought it was a $75 bottle of wine. Look again up the top. GLS & BTL. It was $75 per glass $369 per bottle.
The wine was not nice at all. We went back to where we were staying & googled it. They served us a $25 give or take bottle of red wine. They did not know how that happened??
We questioned the overcharge when leaving. We had to pay. We walked back up that ridiculous hill. The owner who came in bare foot, gave most money back for the wine. Watch the tax on your bill also! That's not included & credit card surcharge.
The food wasn't nice! Possibly the rich investors, doing the good reviews.
Heads up. There isn't a beautiful sunset. It doesn't set on that side. You can't see a sunset.
EDIT~ In Response to your reply.
Please, do not roll your eyes at me & state we consumed a bottle of wine. Worth $20?$25 not on sale. When you didn't give a complete refund & it was our time because of your mistake. Remember who pays for your shoes you also disregarded.
We requested takeaway before knowing about this error if you re call, as your reviews are very different to what we received.
We took the bottle with us after being completely over charged. We asked the waitress for the $77 bottle of wine & got charged $369.
You refunded $367.45 for a $369 bottle of wine which was not the correct wine! You gave us cheap stuff not on your menu.
Our bill was $595.35 & yet taken from my account was $600.11
