Definite pros and cons with this place. Firstly pros : Lovely location, good price. Cons: our apartment had not been properly cleaned, the floors were dirty and sandy, there was mould on the bathroom cabinet doors, the taps were dirty and the cupboards generally needed a good clean. I met a man in the lift who mentioned that he had been upgraded after he complained about his apartment being dirty. There is NO aircon in the whole building, this is ok IF there are good, quiet ceiling fans in the apartment. In apartment 16, a supposedly recently renovated superior 2 bed, there were no ceiling fans at all. There were a couple of cheap small fans but these were noisy and not sufficient for the 30C days and warm evenings. We had the doors and windows open all night but it was still very hot. Lastly, there is a massive new building in front of the apartment block. You still have ocean views to either side of it but whoa there is no missing this thing. If you are making a booking here in the summer make sure you ask for an apartment with ceiling fans and hopefully they will have addressed the...
Read moreWe just had a beautiful long weekend at Carool Holiday Apartments in our favourite part of the world - Rainbow Bay.
We loved the layout of the two bedroom apartment with the living areas at the front and the bedrooms at the rear. Beautiful flow through breezes when the front and back sliding doors are open too! The apartment was nicely decorated, very spacious with a good sized kitchen, large bedrooms and lovely views of the ocean.
Rainbow Bay beach is metres away as are paths leading to Froggy's Beach and Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta, or to Point Danger and Duranbah Beach. There are lovely cafes nearby, a new seafood restaurant and a great takeaway pizza place. The surf club is just across the road and has decent bistro meals with stunning beach views. The shops and restaurants of Coolangatta are an easy walk or a short drive away.
Our hosts Tina and Mick were very friendly and helpful, and all in all we would go back for another stay at Carool in a heartbeat - we loved...
Read moreThis is a hard review to write, and is only applicable to unit 18 on the 7th floor (I hear other apartments in Carool are quite nice). This was a cheap price on the shoulder of the Christmas holiday season, and I was aware of that, so wasn’t expecting luxury. And the managers at Carool are lovely, and very accommodating. So I don’t know who should own this-but the apartment was not up to scratch. There is no excuse for it not being clean. Plus the owner needs to totally gut the apartment (great layout and view). For example It doesn’t cost much to put a new ikea dresser in the main bedroom. Or replace the curtains and carpet. The dresser was filthy, stained, and the mirror had black spots all over it. I reckon it must have been there for at least 30 years. So this review is more a ‘renter beware’ review- ask which apartment you are in if you book on a Booking site or direct, and if it’s unit 18, you’ve been warned! I hope this might lead to the owner...
