The food and white coffee is great. We came as a family of 5, including 2 kids and an elderly. We love the food, especially our 2 kids who kept asking to revisit the restaurant for their food.
We ordered 3 times in 3 consecutive days for dinner for almost the same food as requested by the kids. The sweet and sour pork dish, honey chicken, squid with ginger and shallots, kai lan vegetables, fried rice, ee fu noodles, sweet and sour fish slices. The dishes are really very tasty from an asian perspective (we are asians). Very authentic and delicious.
There was also a day when we went for the dim sum in the morning when they just opened for the day. The dim sum also tasted good. We ordered shrimp dumpings, siew mai, char siew buns etc, deep fried sesame prawn toast. All tasted good. My kids like the xiao long bao. (Buns with pork and soup in it). The soup tasted really good too.
The services are also very good, there is a bespectacled guy staff who is very welcoming and can remember our orders the previous time we came by. The boss is also very friendly to us.
The outlook of the restaurant might not be eye catching at first though. It is situated within the Mantra Legends Hotel where we stayed. We first noticed the restaurant while waiting for check in to the hotel as there were many photos of the boss with hong kong actors/ actresses and singapore deejays. However, the food are really good and delicious. Plus point was also the location is very convenient for us staying within the hotel. Quite cosy to be eating within the restaurants as well with live seafood swimming behind us in the tanks (my boy was entertained by the fish and lobster and the crabs inside the tank), where we seated directly in front of the tanks and we sat the same table for 3 or 4 consecutive times when we ate there.
Overall, we recommend this restaurant for especially their food, and the services. The wait for the food was also short and there was no long waiting time after we ordered. As for the price, its roughly about the same as the restaurants outside our hotel, or maybe around 5% higher. But for the food, it is worth the 5% higher. Chill and Pleasant experience with the good...
Read moreMy cousin and I there 2 weeks ago for lunch. Only 2 tables were occupied. We ordered black pepper steak and a mixed vegetable dish, steamed rice and Chinese tea. No choice of any Chinese tea.
Before we ordered we had a quick look at the food at the other 2 tables, both occupied by Chinese background and spoke the language. Food looked good and plentiful.
When our beef came it was chewy...not steak pieces but chunky like you would use in a casserole or curry!! Sauce was straight from a bottle that was mixed with cornflour or something similar.
The same time we got our mixed vegetables one of the other tables got theirs too.
That table got real cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, snow peas etc. Ours was just the stalks of the cauli and stems of the broccoli, and 2 very thin pieces of sliced carrot. We also got the a handful of bak choy stems and 2 mushrooms. We ended up with the poorer quality or remnants of the quality dish served to the other table.
Our serve was in a smaller plate and no taste at all. What clearly happened here was discrimination!! Food was really bland and tasteless.
I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone simply because of discrimination. You get food depending on your skin colour. We know our food as we frequent lots of Asisn restaurant. This was really the pits. Later we noticed chef on the outside smoking away too. We wonder about hygiene...
Read moreI took my family to Legends Seafood Chinese Restaurant on the corner last night, not the Malaysian one next door . The first thing we noticed was 3 Barramundi's in a tank together that were clearly very sick. two were almost dead and one was barely moving.
I suggested to the waiter that sick fish should probably be removed The waiter then ignored several further comments i made about the possibility of patron's getting sick or worse. His English speaking skills were quite good so i got the definite impression that they had every intention of serving them to unknowing customers
Sad and disgusting... we should have left and gone somewhere else but decided not to eat fish and to have something else. Silly choice on my part.
The peeking duck should have come out whole and sliced in front of us but instead it arrived within 5 minutes already prepared. The duck was soggy and old tasting. We suspect it was someones left overs.
The second part or the duck was prepared for us as San Choy Bow. There were several strange looking prawns legs in the mixture .... yuck. possibly left overs mixed with other things to make more volume for our order.
The Choy Sum was old and rubbery and fried rice was soggy and tasteless.
The rest was very mediocre .. I would never go there again.
Good Luck... Youll...
