We just got home and I’m so sad that our stay is over, this was definitely the best hotel we’d ever stayed in! We were on our Babymoon with our wild 2 year old, and we booked the Executive Corner suite - room 125.
Every single staff member bent over backwards to make us comfortable and the room was simply huge and luxurious!
Valet parking - easy and never a long wait
Room - you could call for the fire to be lit whenever you like and it made for such a cosy vibe. Bed was very soft, cot provided for our toddler. Bath was huge, we are both 6 feet plus and I could fit in with my toddler easily. The corner suite was enormous and perfect for Hunter. View from 125 was alright, but balcony sadly didn’t face the water but we didn’t mind, the luxury of the room made up for it! Good soundproofing too.
Room Service - the breakfasts were INSANE! You could choose a dish each, plus 3 sides, a juice and a barista coffee as well as fruit, cheese, salami and pastry platter each! It was plenty for all three of us and we’d have leftover fruit and pastries to feed our toddler during day outings. I miss it so much! We did dinner room service a few times too and the quality of the food was excellent and it was really fast too! I would have loved a slightly more varied room service menu and more kid friendly options but overall superb! Lux Appelles products in bathroom too.
Old Wharf Restaurant - we dined here one night and all of our dishes were incredible and staff so helpful with our toddler, giving him toys, pencils, and a kids menu!
Customer Service - all of the staff were just so kind! Our 2 year old has huge emotions and the staff would go out of their way to calm him down and bring him a chocolate lollipop it was so sweet! I’d call up every day for an ice bucket and it came straight away, they gave us a high chair no problems, Porters and valet so friendly and fast: we also had an issue with the chromecasts not working in our room, this was an issue due to having a toddler who NEEDS 😂 wiggles and as soon as we told them they were straight into it, kept us updated, offered for us to move rooms, gave us complimentary drinks and ultimately comped one of our nights to make up for it as it sadly couldn’t be fixed, totally unnecessary as we just used our iPad for him but very appreciated, I have honestly never experienced customer service like that before. They also gave us a very generous Babymoon gift! So kind of them! They even once brought up a dummy we lost downstairs to our room. Just above and beyond in all regards!
Housekeeping - our room was serviced daily and it was perfect! One day we even had a lovely note saying they had cleaned all our toddler dishes and put his toys away for us! Mind blown!
I hope to stay again soon, a hotel I won’t forget any...
Read moreDisappointing experience. Poor housekeeping training and poor handling of issue by manager on duty (Jeffrey?). Our child has skin allergies and needs to travel with her own bath towel which went missing from the hook after room cleaning - there was a sign saying that towels left on hook would not be taken away for laundering. After I called guest service immediately on Dec 21 afternoon (2ish), I received one call in the afternoon saying they were trying to find it from the dirty linen pile. We only left the room for dinner between 5:20pm to 7:15pm, and never received any more calls nor messages updating us. Today Dec 22 I spoke to hotel manager on duty who read from others’ notes saying they had tried to call but no one was available - strange as we hardly left the room. (Other hotels would have hand written a note or left a voice message anyways.) Manager on duty then explained that they hadn’t found anything from the dirty linen pile and the housekeeping staff didn’t notice anything unusual (of course, it was clearly a mistake), and that the next course of action - which he repeated multiple times - was to wait for their laundry service (outsourced) to open tomorrow and they would call. (We would have flown out by then.) There was no acknowledgement at all that there could have been a mix-up - that was the least they could have done, rather than imply that we had made a mistake about our missing towel. A little bit of empathy would have appeared more professional - customer service/ hospitality 101. “Sorry, we probably made a mistake. Apologies for any inconvenience.” would have been appreciated. Apart from that, while hotel design was modern, but not most practical. Eg our room 125 had light leaks and woke us all up before 6am every single morning. Sound proofing was also an issue, could always hear music from downstairs and stomping on the ground from upstairs. Mattress was very soft and dipped in the middle. Husband and I both had lower back pain in morning. Check-in was fine. Complimentary tea at check-in counter was a nice touch. We asked one staff at the counter regarding anything special to see on the way to Huon Valley and surrounding, and she said nothing special there, no real attractions. Not sure if that was best way to promote Tasmania... but we actually found the drive very scenic, and enjoyed Willie Smith’s Apple Shed, gingerbread shop, quaint little...
Read moreMy friend and I had an amazing stay in this 5-star property. Located next to the pier, this hotel offers all the services you would fall in love. Unfortunately, the pier view rooms were sold out and we stayed on the other side. Yea! We had to compromise on the view. However, everything else was too notch. The room had everything; they made sure even the tiny detail of the room is taken care.
The shower area and toilet is separate; with a dressing area and a mirror selfie spot. Trust me; I had taken a lot of selfies of me. Wish the shower was a bit bigger. They use the toiletries provided by The Appelles Apothecary, which I believe one of the best in market in par with the Aesop. Loved the body cream, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner; I have even bought one myself after returning from the trip.
The hotel restaurant offers delicious breakfast and has a open kitchen design. The reception is quite laid back and has a huge fireplace in the middle. The hotel room service also offers overnight dining menu, which serves limited but amazing food that are priced perfectly.
The in room mini bar offered finest collection of wines, whiskies and some good snacks. As you open the wardrobe you will get the best bathrobe you would ever find in any hotel rooms; you can even buy one right from the reception. Australia’s first story telling hotel, each room in MACq 01 has a unique story that is waiting for you to find out.
The corridors are soo spacious that almost resembles a cruise ship interior. They had many antiques pieces on display on the hallways, each attached with a tiny note describing the item. The hotel location is perfect and offers access to city, Salamanca cove, pier shops were they sell delicious sea food and is very near to Ferry which takes you to MONA. Overall, a fabulous stay and would love to...
