Ti Ama — Restaurant in Hobart

Not such a good experience for us on our recent visit to Tasmania. Walked in to order a pizza, was told we had to order and pay online…had to sign up to Hungry Hungry so it was a bit of a process. Most COVID restrictions are over, so, not sure why we could just order to a person as we were right there. Witnessed another couple arrive who wanted to eat there but didn’t have a booking and listened as they were told they had to have the set menu…so overall not a good experience. Btw, the pizza was quite poor, as we are vegetarians, I ordered Bubby 2 (I think) - lack of toppings it was more like a garlic pizza with a tiny spread of something. I wouldn’t go there again - there are far better places in Salamanca where you can just walk in and you are welcomed, not confronted with someone telling you how you have to order and what you can eat - obviously not the FOH staff fault, but their management should reconsider how humans should be ‘welcomed’ and how they offer the menu. This is my favourite Italian place in Hobart. It’s become a tradition to hang out here and get the set menu on my birthday. The cocktails are delicious and I’m really missing them since I’m not allowed to drink at the moment. I feel like the $55 set menu is good value and very filling. It completely toes the line between welcoming/hearty and classy/fancy. If I want a special treat on Uber eats I’ll get takeout from here. I am notorious for not eating my pizza crusts, but their ranch dipper is so good I’ll eat them just to get more ranch. Whenever I go for my birthday they always give me a free item like a dessert or drink. My one critique would be that they need maybe a few extra pasta options and also more dessert options. I can’t rate the food or the atmosphere because we were told that they don’t take anymore walk ins when it was only 8:07pm. Even the door had timings displayed till 9:00pm. We were offered to have take away instead which we were not really sure about at the time. We returned after 15mins and we were told that the kitchen is closed for take away too. What a joke!! Will never try this place again.
