I would not recommend to stay at YHA Hobart Central. I have stayed with the YHA for the past 13 years and all around the world, and never have I been treated so attrociously!|In December 2022 I booked a private room with an ensuite, to then stay in March 2023.||I had confirmed my booking, paid my booking, and on departure from Melbourne to Hobart my plane was delayed. I rang the hostel to let them know I was still coming but there will be a delay in my flight. I was told no worries, you will receive a text message with your room number and pin number, in which I didn't receive. I rang back just before the plane took off, and the receptionist gave me the room number and pin number.||On arrival to the property it was late, I headed up to my room, put the pin number in and entered the room. As I walked in I was greeted by a male and his partner! We were all in shock! I had been able to enter their room. I rang the after hours reception number in which I was greeted by a very rude receptionist, who continued to say that the hostel was fully booked for that night! I said to her, "well sorry you need to sort something out, I have booked and paid for this room back in December, I have just been able to walk into someone else's room with the number I was given and now you are telling me the hostel is fully booked!" She continued to smack both fist down on the bench, using profusive language and telling me to get out."||I am still in disbelief I walked in to a room that was given to me as mine, but I was greeted with another couple in it already!||I WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND TO STAY IN...

Read moreWhere to begin, the hostel is cosy! But a few things.
When I walked into the hostel covid haven't started. By the time the receptionist began to check me in Gladys was no longer premier and coronas first strain is a distant memory. Me and friends didnt pre book as we presumed that the hostel had space as hobart isn't exactly the liveliest city in Australia. To our surprise, the girl on reception told us it was actually fully booked, but low and behold we helped her out a bit showing that online there were 10 available beds, there we have it, the cogs turned and we were able to check in. As I began my pilgrimage up the stairs, 80% of Australia has caught and recovered from covid, the world is starting to get back to what we now know as the new 'normal' with interstate travel allowed to those only with their 50th booster, WA borders still remain firmly shut.
Second the stairs, as I lugged my suitcase and two other bags up the stairs, i no longer needed training hike to cradle mountain.
Tired and weary, the year is now 3500, and I have reached my room. The oceans are empty and humans have relocated to Mars, leaving the receptionist and I as the last two remaining life forms on earth.
All qualms aside,...
