Town Hall — Local services in Hobart

Amazing iconic building in Hobart, one of my fave places to visit in this city. The historical place is great inside with charming chandeliers in the or ate ceilings. What more, flower shows here are also enjoyable to see. A good number of flowers in season like this March, the Dahlias and Floral Art Display. I come every year since we moved here in 2013. Hobart Town Hall was the perfect setting for the ‘battle of the bands’ between Coldplay and Imagine Dragons. The winner was clearly the audience as we were indulged in a number of sets of both bands phenomenal music. The Strings on Fire Tasmania Quartet were faultless. The scene set with a plethora of candles, sadly not real ones (but we must be realistic about these things in 2024). Hobart Town Hall je pravi dragulj viktorijanske arhitekture i jedno od najlepših zdanja u srcu grada. Podignuta sredinom 19. veka (1866), ova elegantna zgrada i danas odiše dostojanstvom i šarmom prošlih vremena. Masivna fasada od lokalnog peščara, visoki stubovi i prepoznatljiv toranj čine je jednim od najfotogeničnijih mesta u Hobartu.

Unutrašnjost se povremeno otvara za javnost tokom kulturnih događaja, koncerata ili izložbi — i tada se zaista vidi koliko pažnje je posvećeno detaljima, od mermernog stepeništa do vitraža koji propuštaju toplo svetlo.

Kada je otvorena, Town Hall je bila najviša javna zgrada u Hobartu i simbol rasta i samopouzdanja tadašnje kolonije. Danas, iako okružena modernim zgradama, i dalje zrači elegancijom i ponosom. U neposrednoj blizini su Franklin Square i brojne kafiće, pa je idealno mesto za kratku šetnju, fotografiju ili jednostavno uživanje u atmosferi starog Hobarta.
