We had an absolutely brilliant dinner at The Still Lark Whisky Bar in Hobart last night. There were four of us and we kicked things off with the gin and whisky oysters – wow, what a start! Totally unique and just fantastic.
From there we basically ordered almost everything off the smalls and shares menu. Standouts were the croquettes, grilled chorizo, and mortadella skewer, but the real surprise was the salted cucumber skewer with labne, candied walnut, and chilli crisp – hands down one of the best vegetarian dishes I’ve ever eaten.
We also tried the Lark Whisky flight, which was not only delicious but came with an entertaining and super knowledgeable rundown from our waiter, Maddy. Chef Ben popped over to our table for a chat which was such a nice touch, and bartender Alex absolutely nailed a bespoke cocktail for one of our group – it was so good we had to order another round.
The space itself is stunning – high end but comfortable, with amazing booths and a great atmosphere. Honestly, this was some of the best food and service we’ve had in all our many trips to Hobart over the past six years. Hard to believe they’ve only been serving food there since June – what a find! Thanks to the whole team for a seriously memorable...
Read moreThe Still is a fantastic showcase of Lark’s exceptional whiskies alongside a thoughtfully curated selection of other top-tier Tasmanian whiskies. The tasting options are well-designed, making it a great spot for both whisky enthusiasts and those looking to explore something new. Food options are limited which is worth noting if you’re hungry as well as thirsty, but stop here first still for a tasting before heading on to a dinner venue or come after for a night cap!
However, what truly sets The Still apart is the outstanding staff. Across multiple visits, they’ve consistently been warm, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. They not only offer helpful whisky recommendations but have also gone above and beyond, sharing local tips on restaurants and things to see around Tasmania. They are brilliant ambassadors for the Lark brand and for Tasmania as a whole. Highly...
Read moreWaht a cool venue. Great staff and tasty drinks. Just ridiculously expensive for the big unnecessary ice cubes. While the large stamped ice cube is impressive it takes up all the space in your glass. I ordered a negroni. Delicious. The few small sips I had. The kicker was saying this to the waitress. And the response as it's the same volume. Mmm. Same as what? Im not stupid and i did math at school with volumes. I'm sorry but the ice was 5cm cube roughly if not more. The glass was a small little 250 ml if that tumbler. You do the maths. But I paid $22 for a few small sips of a delicious drink and then one huge piece of ice. Mum had a Martini and again served in the smallest of glasses!. Sorry would never go back or recommend this place. So many nice places to go with smaller ice cubes and a more than a few...
