Flying Duck — Restaurant in Northbridge

Extremely loud, my ears were ringing afterwards. Tables are too crowded, not safe. LONG LONG WAIT. We waited 1 hour for our first dish that was already pre-ordered to arrive. Another 20 for the next, and 20mins between each one until we got our whole order. Food was ok. Not authentic cantonese cusine, seems more like malaysian chinese. A lot of MSG.

We ordered what we knew would be enough for the 5 of us as we know ourselves best our appetite and stomach size. Staff kept trying to get us to order more.

Detailed review for each order:

Roast pork: nicest dish they had. The skin was airy and crispy. Similar to what you would find in HK.

BBQ pork: too sweet. Overall tasted ok.

Lobster noodles: incomplete lobster pieces, was not a full lobster. Cooked well, sauce was too watery. Not made with yee mien. Not authentic to HK cuisine.

Fried rice: flavourful, but heavy with MSG.

Salt and pepper pork: Not good. Very salty. Pork pieces were very small. Meat was fried too dark.

Overall, this place is OK. I personally would not come again.

Six of us dined here last Sunday. The food was excellently made and well presented.

We ordered roast duck, crispy skin roast pork, char siu, Kailan stir fried with oyster sauce, tofu stuffed with seafood, and a big fish seared and de-boned. Of course everything is served with fragrance jasmine steam rice, as Asian cuisine standard. A big pot of hot jasmine tea is also a must have.

We were impressed by the quality, freshness, tasty, juicy and tender of each dish. A round table with lazy Suzy turn around is really authentic and also handy for sharing food.

It is a BYO restaurant so we brought our bottle in, and when we paid, the corkage fee was friendly waived to bring a nice surprise to us all.

Definitely we will come back, to introduce a lovely Chinese restaurant in town to more of our friends and neighbours.

For a big feast like this, each of us only contributed $45. Wow what a great deal!

Chanced upon this restaurant in northbridge and tried our luck as it was already 8:45pm. The man, whom I believe to be the manager, happily unlocked the doors and guided us in. Our orders were quickly taken and prepared. Really appreciate the great and efficient service as I was famished! The manager also provided recommendations for my order as it was going to be a takeaway. It was a good choice to listen to him and the wagyu was perfect even after my drive home. As we were waiting for our food, the manager even brought out some hot tea for us on the house. That was such a nice and unexpected gesture! 😊 very friendly staff and chill atmosphere all around. Thank you for your hard work and thanks for pushing through for us even though it was so close to closing 🙏🥰 we’ll definitely be returning to try more items...
