Andrew began working as the Manager Quest Portland just over seven weeks ago. One of the great staff members there is Natasha, who is always ready for a chat. It has been a lot of work and long hours for them to achieve their many goals and high expectations for the property. By their own admission, there are a few areas still being tweaked, but on the whole, the property is looking great!
The staff's knowledge of the area is vast, so be sure to ask many questions! [The information Centre, along the waterfront, is also a great additional source!]
I was in Portland for work but decided to stay on for a few days to see what Portland offers. This was the only accommodation that had the dates I needed. Lucky me! As a Quest customer of many years, it was meant to be.
Rooms are serviced daily except Sundays, and the office is staffed weekdays 9 am - 5 pm, with varying hours for weekends and public holidays. This is a no-smoking property, with a small pool. Check out is at 10am.
The free wifi is exceptional [there is also the paid, quicker option of $5 for 24hrs] and quick!
They have breakfast packs available for $10, but there are plenty of places to grab a bite from or bring your own, as I did.
Parking is on a first-come basis, or you can park on the street. It isn't easy parking and takes a few goes to manoeuvre into/out of a spot. It is an open carpark, so it is advised not to leave any valuables in the vehicle.
**The cost for a room varies due to the seasons, public holidays and school holidays. There are COVID safe practices throughout this property. It is within walking distance to the shops but a car is needed for many of the tourists attractions.
My Apartment: All the comforts of home found here, and there are two levels - I was on the ground floor.
Two-bedroom apartment [only room left] *Spacious living/kitchen area with table and couch, plus a patio. Freezer, fridge, stove, TV with Foxtel, microwave, air conditioner, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. The apartment had the usual extras of soaps, shampoo, hairdryer, conditioner, dishwasher powder etc.
*The bedroom - comfortable and warm bed [the nights get cold], plus extra pillows and blanket in the cupboard. I slept so well, as there is little to no noise due to the 'no party' policy.
*The bathroom entrance is tight, making it hard to access the toilet as the door opens weirdly. The shower is generously sized, and the colourful lights on the shower head were a novelty. The water pressure is strong, but I do not advise drinking the water from the tap. Boil first or purchase bottled water [but that could be a taste thing - try it for yourself first!] The face washer, hand towel and floor mat were of average thickness, and the shower towels were the perfect size for me [usually, they are too small].
I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and am looking forward to returning. Thank you, Natasha and Andrew, for your help and genuine care for the customers.
Give them a try, you won't be...
Read moreTrying to book a room this eve with Ashley on reception next to impossible. Gave up and have booked 2ngts elsewhere. Thanks, uve missed out on 2ngts stay plus future visits with regular travellers through Portland! Not in the last bit pleased being mucked around like this. Still yet to leave Melbourne enroute.
Now that I've had some sleep and have my brain back on .... And in response to your response. No I didn't expect any sort of discount. If your reception had have said this was the case, situation could have been easily been resolved. But she said nothing of the sort. Not only was she unhelpful with matching room rate with directory site I'd found you on (computer says no), telling me to book thru directory site which is always plagued with difficulties more especially if an incorrect date is picked once you go thru to their site (not my doing). I always prefer dealing direct with hotels themselves.
Never in previous stays have I had a problem with booking and paying one ngts accom (due to us coming across so late/and reception being shut) and then owner letting me pay next day or morn of checkout.
Apologies to Ashley for my shortness on last call, i'd had a massive day at work in Melb and hubby just wanted to get our journey done.
I do feel a bit for Ashley having worked on motel receptions for most of my teanage years. A bit more training on being clear around things. She sounded very unsure on stuff that is just common place in the motel biz.
Bit more training or someone a little older/more experienced as it's never good biz practise kissing off regular customers over...
Read moreWe were excited when we first saw the photos and the name Quest on the booking website.
However we were very disappointed upon arrival having a quick scan of the unit.
The bathroom has a number of molds and signs of rushed cleaning. Machine wash was not stabilized. The power in the bedroom one was tripped when we turned on the heater. There are a number of stains on the chair in the dining room. Too many issues to list.
One big issue as well is that our parking spot was taken by someone else and we had to drag a number of our many luggage to the room after a long drive.
The neighbors allocated next to us was extremely noisy as well. Prior to our arrival we have requested a place away from the noise of possible as my mother is an extremely light sleeper. We have a woman yelling at her kids and a number of international tourists slamming the door and their car doors in the middle of night.
We are a frequent traveler and very rarely voice our complaints but this is appalling.
The housekeepers were friendly and that's the only positive note.
Definitely will not...
