This lovely Catholic Church was a lovely find and sweet relief from a busy street in Haymarket. The priest was happy, filled with joy and a wonderful homilist. Daily Mass at 12:10 well attended by locals and visitors too. Adoration before and after mass. There is a great little gift shoppe too!

St Peter Julian’s Church was established by the Blessed Sacrament Congregation of priests and brother in 1929, when five priests and two brothers travelled from Canada and the United States to assume the pastoral care of the historic St Francis’ Church in the centre of Melbourne. These members of the French (now international) religious order founded in 1856 by St Peter Julian Eymard.

The current property was purchased in 1952 and redeveloped to create a monastery and a small city chapel, which was known as the Church of the Blessed Sacrament when opened by Cardinal Norman Gilroy on 30 August 1953. It was recently remodeled in 2009

Perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament began at the outset, despite the relatively low number of members of the religious community at that time.

The new church was the first in the world to be named after St Peter Julian Eymard, who was canonised in 1962 when construction was under way.

St Peter Julian’s in Haymarket is truly a hidden gem in the heart of the city. I’ve been coming here since high school, and it continues to be a peaceful and welcoming place of prayer. Because it blends so well with its surroundings, it’s easy to miss—but once you step inside, you’ll find a beautiful and reverent space perfect for quiet reflection and spiritual renewal.

The priests here are incredibly friendly and always make you feel welcome. Their homilies are thoughtful and uplifting, adding to the overall experience. The Church also offers a great range of accessible Mass times, making it convenient for both locals and visitors to attend, even in the middle of a busy workday.

Beyond the spiritual atmosphere, the location is fantastic—right in Haymarket, close to public transport and the hustle of the city. Despite being in such a central spot, it still provides a sense of peace and calm, making it the perfect place to take a break from the noise of daily life.

Whether you’re looking for a regular place to attend Mass or just a quiet moment of prayer, St Peter Julian’s is definitely...

A Sanctuary in the middle of the City, where one can sit with Jesus Present in the Tabernacle, no difference to the way He is in Heaven, only with His Glory hidden, and you cannot see His Personhood, however it is He, the way in which He has chosen to remain and appear on Earth. Come and visit him in the adoration chapel behind the main altar or at Adoration between 11am and noon each day... He loves us to visit him, just as we love to be visited by our loved ones and share time and conversation together. Another word for conversation is prayer. Then stay for one of the many Masses and be present at the One Sacrifice of Christ 2000 years ago, made present on the altar for this generation, and in the greatest of love, receive Him in Holy Communion, and be gracious enough to let Him receive you, that you and God can become one. And should you need to avail yourself of sins and ask for God's Mercy, which is yours for the taking, no matter what you have done, Confession is available as well. Check the website for details. Come and be blessed. Come and be loved for who you are, made in the...
