If your looking to stumble across the neighbourhood’s hidden gem with amazing flavours and a cool funky vibe then I suggest you stay well well clear of this place.
This place is the opposite, like accidentally getting stuck at a fat girls house and having to f her just to be polite.
We knew a soon as we sat down and saw the waiter delivering meals to other tables that we’d made a terrible mistake. We were just hoping it looked bad but might end up tasting amazing. It didn’t. As soon as it was delivered we looked at each other in perfect timing and said what the f. It looked weird, and fluro, like it had been made with my 5 years old’s play dough set. It tasted even worse. I’m pretty sure we couldn’t have given it away to a homeless person on side of the street. It tasted just as it looked, weird. In fairness, it probably presented better on the way out the next day! I only ate it because id been in hospital the day before and my body really needed some calories. The standard seems to be if youve recently been discharged from hospital and need food, this place is what you need.
I’m really not sure how a restaurant can take these specific ingredients and make it taste so bad. It must take some real talent to take bread, beans, cheese and chicken and make this.
I feel horrible in saying this but they should close the business and set the staff free to follow their true ambitions of feeding ducks at the pond or collecting rubbish on council clean up days. They ain’t got what it takes to make a meal. I can hear Kyle Sandilands in my head trying to tell a contestant she isn’t going to make it in the competition “sorry love, you ain’t got it”.
Probably time for the owner to consider plan B, or just anything that doesn’t involve feeding the good people of...
Read moreAfter living in the US for the past 7 years, in my most recent trip back to Sydney I sought to find a true Mexican restaurant to curb my craving for an authentic burrito, enchilada or taco. When searching for nearby restaurants on Google I stumbled upon this location, which caught my eye with its glowing reviews and authentic Mexican ambiance. BUYER BEWARE: the food is not as good as the ambiance may suggest!!!
Whilst I must give true credit for an authentic SoCal no frills Mexican restaurant vibe, I must say that this was the only real highlight of the meal. To start, we ordered chips, guac and salsa- the chips were great and well salted (a layup for any self respecting Mexican eatery), the guac was good, albeit a little bland for my liking and the pico was passable.
Feeling upbeat and ready for our strong cravings to be addressed, we awaited our mains (a wet burrito for myself and enchiladas for my friend). Whilst I was initially taken aback by a restaurant in Sydney knowing what a wet burrito is, the actual meal really lacked any outstanding quality: the burrito was not hot enough, the steak was overcooked and not chopped finely, the enchilada sauce was nothing special and none of the other burrito fillings were well seasoned, despite taking up 90%+ of the filling. My friend had similar complaints about his enchiladas, also adding that the side of beans added nothing to the meal and that his chicken was dry. Some seasoning would honestly go a long way to improving the quality of this meal.
In both of our perspectives, as true aficionados of Mexican cuisine, this was the worst Mexican meal that either of us have had between Australia, California, Texas, New York and multiple Mexican cities. Do yourself a favour- save your money and go to...
Read moreCute restaurant with cute furniture, decor and nice murals on the wall ... but you can't eat the cute furniture, decor and nice murals on the wall. The service was below average! No warmth in the interaction and when we tried to ask about food allergies and intolerances, we were met with a stare that lasted for an awkward few seconds followed by a non committed, dismissive response. I don't think we were understood. We ordered what we thought would be the safe options. The food arrived eventually after quite a bit of a wait. It was not nice to look at and tasted worse than it looked... everything was just thrown on the plate, the meat dishes were very dry and were super salty, the oil in all the dishes looked like it were added as an afterthought, the lettuce/salad was not fresh...not an authentic experience at all. I also noticed that a dish was missing a couple of things that were stated in the menu and when I enquired, I was asked if we really wanted that, I looked at her like ...are you serious? Why would I order what I did not want? By this time all 3 of us knew what we were in for and we just wanted to leave. It was quite expensive for what they were serving and we did not even have half of our meal. Wish I'd taken photos of what came and what we left behind but I was not going to subject my phone camera to the sight! I did read one similar review (after the fact) and the response from the owner where they quoted being around for 11 years....yes, I could taste the stagnance!! Perhaps change/train your chef, get fresh ingredients and train your waitress in customer service. Not a...
