Read moreOne word - magical. Our whole experience was simply magical. We stayed for one night in mid February and loved every minute in the hotel. We chose it after carefully comparing other great hotels in the area and know that we made the perfect choice. The view from our room over the canal was magical. Yes, the room (#11) was small (or quaint) but it didn't feel tight at all. The configuration made it easy to store bags in the built-in closet so that they didn't take up floor space. We also loved sitting by our window and gazing at the canal both morning and night. The other nice thing was that the hotel's iconic location made it easy to find Bruges momentos with the hotel on it. We actually returned home with a puzzle with the canal view of the hotel on it. I love it! The breakfast was also spectacular. Delicious choice of food items, each one prepared in a special way. The location was perfect. Just a short walk from the Markt and other landmarks. It was nice being just south of the Markt as it made the southern landmarks easy to get to as well. The service was impeccable and super personal. We felt right at home our entire stay. Being in Bruges in February was nice as the hotel and the surrounding areas were quiet in comparison to the high season. Also to note, this it the hotel featured in the movie In Bruges as well as the Hallmark movie Love, Romance & Chocolate (although most of their interior scenes are from a different building). It was super easy to get to the hotel from the train station too. We hopped on a bus (3 euros per person, pay right when you get on the bus) right outside the station and it took us to a stop 1 minute away from the hotel. Loved it and am already dreaming of when we can return. This place is sooo special. You...
Read moreI was visiting Bruges from 9-11 September and wanted to stay in a hotel that – (a) was right in the heart of the city and from which it would be easy to navigate to all the sites I wanted to see; (b) that was reputed for its comfort and service; and (c) would make me a great memory of my visit to Bruges. I asked ChatGPT to recommend me a hotel on this terms and ChatGPT recommended the Relais Bourgondich Cruyce. |The choice couldn’t have been better; the hotel, with its iconic building and the tree at its side (as seen from across the canal) is actually the most beautiful, the most scenic, the most iconic and the most photographed shot in Bruges.|The location was excellent and it was very easy to walk from the hotel to all the important sites, such as the Church of Our Lady (where Michelangelo’s sculpture of the Madonna is located), the Basilica of the Holy Blood (where a reputed sample of the blood of Jesus can be viewed), museums like the Gruuthusemuseam, the Groeningemuseum, the Old St John’s Hospital, the Markt – with the grand Town Hall, the awesomely tall Belfort (bell tower) and the many restaurants and cafes, as well as the shopping streets (including the numerous chocolate- , waffle– and biscuit- shops, and the piers to take the canal cruise.|The interior of the hotel was cosy and homely: the room and attached bath (with a bathtub) were spacious and had a very pretty canal view; the bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast spread was sumptuous.|The staff were very warm and friendly, making me feel I was staying with family, and I am very grateful to Fabrina, Manoof and their other lady colleague whose name I didn’t manage to get, for making my stay so pleasant and comfortable. Definitely if I come back to Bruges, this will again be the...
