Great position very near Copacabana beach, very good buffet breakfast, al the staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly, except one|Few things were not perfect: The buttons on the elevators sometimes they worked sometimes they didn't, making it difficult to do simple things like going to out room/breakfast area/ reception. The hotel, despite on the online reservation was confirmed that we could pay cash at the arrival, deducted to my credit card the 1st night 2 days before our arrival. Because on the day of our arrival we did not pay the other 3 nights in full, the following day they blocked our magnetic card key, until the outstanding payment was paid. I think it was very mean, because anyway they have my credit card details in case "we run away" as I mentioned to the man at the reception This member of staff in particular, working from the evening, once I paid in full in cash, he did not want to provide for a receipt. I explained I needed an evidence that I handled the remaining amount, but he said I would have the receipt only at check out. I didn't want to create an issue, but only after politely insisting I received the receipt. All the remaining staff at reception, at the breakfast and the cleaners, were all very friendly and helpful.|The breakfast was very good, the only problem was that the cooked food was not kept hot, so it was only available to eat cold, and that was a pity because breakfast is one of the strenght of this...
Read moreWe stayed 4 nights and the things we liked was the amazing location, breakfast and the smart TV in the room on which you can really use the smart functionalities. Otherwise pictures on the listing are most likely fake, in reality it's much more dated, I'd say end of 80's or early 90's. The room is very basic with only one light on the ceiling, no bedside light (there was at some point, the place on the wall is visible from where it was unmounted), stained courtains, spiderweb behind the wall-mounted TV (the old kind, full of dust) couple of stains on the walls here and there, the little fridge is at least 20 years old (assuming from the yellow discoloration and rusting), very loud, old-fashioned manual airconditioning which gives a loud bang every now and then (it works if you find out how to operate, for us it took a day), broken lock-mechanism on bathroom door, leaking tap on the sink, broken bidet sprayer (tried once, sprayed the whole bathroom), huge hydro-bath but the switch was broken, most likely out of order as well, the operation of the shower was dificult as well, one knob controlled the "scaldingly" hot water the other one didn't do anything until turned all the way. We would absolutely not recommend this hotel and would have changed immediately in case we wouldn't have arrived 7AM tired after a sleepless overnight flight! At least we could check in early for a fee...
Read moreWe've booked via STA travel agency. We were sceptical after reading the reviews of other guests staying at this hotel.
The concierge when arriving greeted us in a very friendly manner. At the reception desk we were greeted in English and he also understands a little bit of Zulu. (The concierge were very knowledgeable about their surrounding eg. restuarants, pharmacies atm etc.)
The rooms were very clean and spacious and was clean on a daily basis with fresh towels and bed linen. The cleaning staff are very trustworthy.
When entering the restuarant we were surprised by firstly the great variety of both cold and hot foods, spacious seating, and favor. The staff made a great effort to converse with us in English.
There is a pool and gym area, but very small. The hotel organized a city tour at a reasonable cost which was well worth the money, which included all attractions including a buffet lunch. (This included pickup and drop off at your hotel.) The hotel was very accommodating when booking out early whereby they will stow your luggage away until your airport transport arrives.
We will definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends and even visit again. Levendal family- Cape Town,...
