Meliá Paulista — Hotel in Região Imediata de São Paulo

I didn’t book this stay, my partner did and as I am here to write a review I am SHOCKED this is considered a 4 stars hotel. There is absolutely nothing 4 star about it! Maybe Valet?!

We booked our stay for two nights and stayed in a hypo allergenic room, which just means it did not have carpet but the room although big was hot temperature wise but felt very cold and dirty visually. There was mold on the shower wall ( I should have taken a picture) and it just smelled dusty. The hotel itself is rundown and old which I do mind but doesn’t make or break my experience. What makes it or break it is the customer service which is NON EXISTENT. Friendliness also NON EXISTENT.

I won’t go into too much details but basically this two night stay was part vacation, part remote work but we could not work because they could not provide us with wired internet which is advertised. We let Silvia at the reception desk know in advance that we tested the internet and it was not working but would need it for the next day and they assured us the next day IT would take care of it but to meanwhile call *444. We did all that was asked And it never worked and in desperation we had to book another hotel just so we could work as this hotel failed to assist us, failed to recognize the urgency and failed to care.

We ended up only staying there one night, didn’t have their complimentary breakfast and left that same day. We didn’t ask for our money back for the night we forfeited because we just wanted to get the heck out of this God Forsaken place.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Go to any Marriott and I assure you they will at the very least greet you with a smile when you walk in the door, which is a basic customer service treatment we...

I am spending three weeks here for business. It has exceeded my expectations! Not only is there variety in food, but there is variety in speed as well. There is a breakfast buffet, express lunch and dinner options in the restaurant or room. All are excellent! Room service and pool side service is available during the day.

The hotel has a fitness center with cardio equipment and very basic weights. You will be disappointed if you are expecting free weights. There are not many and the bar locks do not work anyway. The cable strength machine is new and good. There are treadmills, a water rower and an elliptical. I enjoy exercise and so this was my only complaint.

The rooms are basic but include a refrigerator, mini bar, a TV and a closet. There is a good sized safe to store valuables. A closet and some drawers. The room includes an iron for pressing clothes and a hot water kettle for instant coffee. The room has an air conditioner but no heater. It is still plenty warm. I had no problems. The bed is very comfortable with a variety of pillows. Staff made and cleaned the room daily. Bathroom includes a shower with very good water pressure and hot water.

The hotel is located on Av. Paulista and is close to many shopping destinations and food places. It is a couple minute walk to many convenience stores for drinks and snacks as well as drug stores. Av. Paulista closes on Sunday for walking and entertainment. I had no security concerns outside the hotel. Regular precautions are all you need.

Staff speak English very well. They were patient with me as I tried my Portuguese even though I am a beginner!

We participated the New Year's party yesterday. Total fail! I do NOT recommend at all! The description was not clear and we thought we pay for party+ dinner. When we arrived the second disappointment: we were told we are only allowed to have the finger food during the party that starts at 21:00. On our tickets we had 20:00 and in the description, that dinner starts at 20:00. We got a proposal to buy additionally dinner for 1600 Reals for person! First disappointment: there was no information that the street is closed then we had to walk through the crowd, police...wearing high heels. We tried to keep calm and do not ruin our last day of the year. At 21:00 we went to the party room,nicely decorated, cold and completely empty!We were very hungry, then we ate finger food, took a drink and went to the street in front of the hotel, where was the main city party,because in the hotel party room was no music. There was also no music around 22:00. For all that we paid 1900 Reals, then around 350 EUR. No dinner, no music, no party...We just took another glass of wine and then plastic(!) glass of champagne before midnight. We were watching fireworks on the street. We spent all thime on the street practically, but we have paid for the nice party, with music and food. It is not worth! You better go to the street party directly, without paying for non existing party. Very bad experience. Not recommended for the end...
